I've been playing DE for a while now, and I'm getting sick of raiders, venoms, and ravagers. This is my attempt at a list that uses none of those models. I'm 50 points shy of 1850, and I'm not sure what the best use of those points would be, so help me out!

Baron - 105

Hellions x15 w/ helliarch + venom blade - 250

ADL - 100

Baron deploys with the beasts while one haemy joins each hellions unit to start. Turn 1, the haemies break off to join the warrior unit manning the ADL autocannons and/ or trueborn. Turbo-boosting jetbikes provide cover for the hellions until targets become available. There are so many potential uses of the last 50 points that I just can't decide. Do I get more beasts? Missiles for the flyers? Wargear for the haemies? Help!

Why not throw some wracks in instead of warriors? That way your ADL manning unit get FNP, cover save, and are running at T4(slightly less wound per hit, and harder to deny FNP). Their shooting power will be on the weaker end, but not like your unupgraded 5 kab unit is any better!

Assuming you're willing to drop the warriors... you'll have 95pts to spare.

4 Wracks(extra wound) w/ hex upgrade + hex rifles on the haemies... 95pts.

Alternately... 3 wracks w/hex + hex rifles on the haemies + power lance on your helliarchs.... 95pts, Your helliarchs will be challenged, and most likely die, with a power lance and possibly S+1 or FC, he might be able to get some good damage out on MEqs before dying.

Interesting attempt anyway, do post how you fared with them. I can see the biggest problem you'll face is mass of AT fires(easy ID, no FNP) on your frail meaty units, because there isn't much else to direct the AT fires to. Your VRB don't come on until the earliest of 2nd turn, so you'll have to deal with at least 1 turn worth of fire on your non-vehicle'd army.

Second hexrifles on the hameys and adding wracks.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Yeah, wracks are pretty obviously better for this list. I think what happened is that I originally had 10 warriors with a dark lance, and then cut it to 5 to save points, rather than doing the smart thing and switching them out for wracks.

Take the wracks with hex rifle. Gives you 2 rifles and the ADL.

Maybe start walk the heamies up to the hellions for the pain token pass off .
