People are all screaming nerf with the WWP but I figure it's an interesting opportunity to try out some new tactics. I love when an army has a unique play-style and the WWP is probably the epitome of that, so not giving up on it yet! Just need to find a way to make it competitive...

Trueborn, Hellions, Warriors, and Taloi start in reserve. Baron deploys with the beasts, Haemies with the Grotestques.

First turn the grot raider does a normal move, the hexrifle haemie hops out and drops the first portal, then the raider flats out to a good spot upfield. 2nd turn all hop out and the haemie drops the second portal. The grotesques aren't too worried if the raider gets blown up and start with 2 pain tokens so pretty deadly right off the bat.

Meanwhile the wyches, beasts and reavers head up a flank to support the grot charge and generally cause mayhem. The baron can join up with the grotesques at any point or stick with the beasts and once units start arriving through the portals he can use hit and run to detach his unit from whatever combat they might be in and instead tie up a shooting threat to models coming out of the portal. The portal units are a balance of cheap and effective shooting to lay waste to things straight out of the portal and CC punch in the form of the Taloi to back things up.

My main concerns are whether I have enough troops and whether there's enough AT. I was considering dropping the trueborn to one unit of 6 and adding either 5 more blaster warriors, 5 wyches, or 5 wracks + liquefier instead. AT-wise, there's a actually quite a bit capable of hitting armor, but will the lack of any long range AT be a problem?

I would make the trueborn blasterborn coming out of the WWP, to get some more anti tank. Also split your reaver squads into one squad of six, one squad of three.

Hellions are pretty fail, even being troops from the baron. The baron is great for the +1 to go first and beastmaster boosting, but I would not take hellions. You could get 3 units of 5 kabbies with blasters for the cost of the hellions. Things coming out of the WWP should be shooting like crazy or being big threats(talos). Might want to consider 10 kabbie squads to get a cannon.

The beastmaster squad could use more bodies if you plan on using them as a serious assault unit.

As suggested, the Trueborn should come out of the WWP. It gives them a chance to shoot before they, themselves, are shot. You should make your beast unit larger, by having the Baron in front doing Look Out Sir saves you can allocate wounds to Khymerae or Razorwings as you see fit. The rest of your army can advance behind this beast wall. A 5 Beastmaster unit led by the Baron is a Deathstar unit by itself while he is in front, without needing Eldar allies. I would drop the Hellions for more beasts and warriors and simply march all your warriors behind that beast unit.

Also, for tactics, you should have one WWP Haemonculus in the Wych Venom, just to give you a different, advanced deployment spot. You could probably eliminate the Grotesque unit altogether and have the other Haemonculus join a massive beast unit.

I can't stress enough how awesome Baron is in a full beastpack.

Edit: I'll have to re-read sixth edition. You say a raider can make a normal move, drop off one WWP Haemoculus, and then turbo boost across the board in the same turn? That's awesome!

Well i commend you on still trying to make a wwp list work, i would like to think wwp lists can still be competitive too, but obviously it wont be as easy as it was in 5th. I agree with giving the trueborn blasters and making the beast pack a much larger one, also you might want to drop the grotesque unit and give the haemies a couple barebones venoms. I think having as many large kabal squads as you can fit in would be great as you could set up gunline behind your charging beastpack (plus it would look really cool!) and then your talos's can cleanup whatever is left over in the next turn. Either way i wish you best of luck
