This is probably a very basic question, yet 4 people couldn't come to a conclusion over the weekend, so I out reach my hands to the forums and ask you guide the noob to an answer.

Unit 1 has 4 ML inside a building.

Unit 2 in out in the middle, with a tank covering 3 of the 7 units.

Unit 1 shoots at unit 2, but only 2 ML can see the units on the left of the tank, while the others can only see 1 unit on the right of tank.

How does this shooting play out?

Thanks
Dan

First off, let's fix your example:

OUT OF SIGHT
If no models in the firing unit can see a particular model, then
Wounds cannot be allocated to it, and must be instead allocated
to the nearest visible model in the target unit. If there are no
visible models in the target unit, all remaining Wounds
in the pool are lost and the shooting attack ends.

Can the shooting unit see the 4 un-blocked models? Then they can all 4 die. The 3 that cannot be seen and are blocked 100% by the tank? They are safe.

And what about blasts?

Do you have a copy of the rulebook? This is covered pretty clearly in there.

Blast rules are on page 33 and cover models out of LOS getting hit by blasts.

The basic rule of thumb is, If no model in the firing unit can see a model in the target unit, a wound cannot be allocated to that model. In your example if those 3 models cant be seen by anyone then they cannot be allocated a wound.

Thinking about it, this is stupidly easy to figure out, thanks guys. Sometimes the heat of battle gets you going.

I guess the idea of wounding the closest unit makes you think "well the guy who can only see the guy on the right wouldn't have been able to" but it is very clear.

So even if one model from the shooting unit can only see one model from the other unit, it can still fire at it, and wound everything as normal, correct?

Thanks
Dan
