Sup everyone, I am really new to table top gaming, but Warhammer 40k is pretty cool. I got interested in it a couple months ago when the 6th edition rules came out. I have been meaning to take time to get into the game for sometime but could find the right time until then.

I really didn't know what army to play with, but my friend had some extra Dark Eldar stuff and the codex so I started there. I didn't go anywhere. I mean he dumped all his stuff on me and didn't explain anything. I pretty much just returned it to him and kept the codex to read and learn a little bit. I also got a hold of the 5th edition Rulebook so I new the old rules.

Anyhow, I picked up the new Limited Edition Dark Vengeance Starter box and assembled the Armies and started playing. This game is awesome. I am thinking of expanding the Dark Angels that came with it and doing the same with the Chaos Space Marine as a second Choice for now.

One question though, not sure if I ask it here or not.

The starter did not come with a painting guide. I know that there is one for the iPad but I only own an iPhone so I can't download it. I was wondering if anyone purchased it or owns it can tell me the paint scheme for the Armies? Hopefully I am not intruding or me asking this is frowned upon. Sorry if it is. I won't ask again.

My mini's are all primed, but no color. The guys at the shop say that its my choice of what to pain my armies and fellow the codex, but the codex does not give me the colors of the paint to pick up. Second I just want to start painting these guys as they look on the box art and book to practice my painting.

I would say go to the painting forums here and look up dark angels, or alternatively google 'painting dark angels' and 'painting chaos'.

I've always found online guides really easy compared to the Games Workshop ones. GW always seem to go from something 'basic' to 'super amazing awesome' in one step of 'apply a light wash'. When that isn't really all that they do. I don't know, I may just be a really basic beginner painter though (actually, not may, I am)

Welcome to the game and to Dakka! I just want to echo the above post. The painting forums can be a great resource, as can a google search. A new Dark Angels codex is supposed to be coming out, hopefully by the end of the year (the whole thing is shrouded in rumor and guesses, though). If you want to expand to Dark Angels, it's a must buy when it does finally come out.
