Right now i have all the AoBR models and a CSM battleforce and I was thinking of adding onto it by getting Dark Vengeance... the models look cool and it seems like a good deal.

anyway, some questions:

1. i have a csm codex, an HQ, some models from the battleforce, etc... can i add onto that army with the dark vengeance guys or are they completely different?

2. how can i play the dark vengeance models if they aren't in a codex yet?

3. can i paint the dark angels as ultramarines to match my AoBR guys or do they only really work (on the table, aesthetically, etc) as dark angels? i don't want to have like 500pts of useless models just sitting around... i mean i don't really play the game but i would like to have some cohesion in my models just in case a game ever does happen

4. Are they all snapfit? I dont like those as much because i enjoyed putting together the guys in the battleforce myself rather than just lining them up and putting in some glue. I also thought non snapfit models had more detail but maybe thats just me.

thanks for the help

1. Yes, you can. The models provided will be a CSM Lord with a power/daemon sword and a plasma pistol, 6 Chosen (which can be fielded as such or as squad champions or whatever) with various weapons, and the Hellbrute is basically a CSM Dreadnought, and can be fielded as such.
2. CSM are probably getting a new codex sometime within the next couple of months, which will probably include cultists. Alternatively, you could run them as Traitor Guard allies with only a few other small additions. As a third option, current estimates place the value of the a cultist at 4 points per model, each special weapon at 5, and both sergeants at about 14 points (4 base plus 10 for the additional attack) so you could as your friends if you could let them be fielded as troop choices for 55 points per squad. I'll also note that 4 ppm maybe makes them a bit on the weak side, but it also means that your opponent will be more likely to let you play them, and they don't seem to be good for much other than providing ablative wounds and going to ground to hold objectives.
3. Take a look at the models and decide for yourself. You could theoretically also repaint your ultramarines as Dark Angels, as they are fairly easy to strip if you used acryllic based paints (like the GW line). A product called Simple Green apparently works quite well. Alternatively, you could try to sell them over ebay to offset the cost of the box.
4. Yes, the models are all snap fit. However, they also come in more parts than non-snap fit models, and unlike the models from previous box sets, they are incredibly detailed (arguably some of the most finely detailed models in the GW line). While you lack the ability to pose them however you choose, the models still look amazing.

In short, if you don't have a copy of the 6th edition rules yet, I'd buy the box no matter what, since it comes with a full version of them. Otherwise, its a matter of how much you like the contents.

The sm in dark vengeance are dark angel to the core. It would be a massive conversion project to remove some of the details that adorn these models. The molds are beautiful. And you could use the Dark Angels as allies to your Ultramarines, as they're battle brothers

With some green stuff and snippers you could cut away arms and repose them as well ...if I can get enough of the lightening claw chosen I plan on doing that and making them into raptors!

on another note though...your avatar...is Grimace becoming the 5th chaos god?
