Am i the only one who thinks a power maul in the hands of a space marine is the perfect anti-ork CC weapon for the Astartes? I think it might give my nobz and boys something to fret about.

- AP that goes through the most common armor save we orks have without mega armor.
-Strength bonus means almost a gaurunteed wound roll
The only real useless part against orks is its Concussive rule (which is about pointless since most orks swing last anyways.)

What do you guys think?

Absolutely. My Reclusiarch leading my Death Company is just brutal when fighting Orks. The DC are already nasty to Orks; the Reclusiarch butchering any Nob in a challenge is the insult cherry on top of the injury sundae.

It does give you a better boost with multiple attacks against transports/AV10/AV11 however, as well as Eldar/Dark Eldar/partially tau

I love power mauls. I have wonderful dreams about power mauls. It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking o̶n̶e̶ up several.

Power Mauls are quite good. They are at their best against Imperial Guard, Orks, Eldar, Dark Eldar, and Tyranids. They are a mixed bag against Tau as while they destroy fire warriors they in turn don't get past Crisis Suit armour, and against Necrons you better hope that they are spamming warriors. While if you expect a lot of armies with 3+ saves they are worse than swords, but on the whole they are an underrated option.

Of course, you deliberately missed TEQs in there, didn't you? Because the only thing a power sword is better against is MEQs. Anything with a worse save is the Mauls territory, but they help against TEQs. The extra strength helps put extra wounds out, which obviously makes for more failed saves.

I think they are a solid buy, not every squad member with them, however if your already toting a th/ss termie squad having the leader swing a big stick isn't the worst thing. Str 6 is a nice round number now in 40k
