I have some BA models (approx 1500 pts worth). I would like to know what kind of army I should build so I know what I need to look into picking up.

Librarian
Jump Chaplain
19x Tactical Marines
5x Assault
5x Death Company
10x Scouts
5x Sniper Scouts
Rhino
Land Raider Redeemer
Stormraven
4x AOBR Termies
AOBR Dread

I was originally going to go mech but with 6th ed don't know if that is a good/optimal plan. All assistance appreciated.

What point value are you looking to focus on? Here is an example of my 2k list that I am going to be trying out when I get home from this deployment....

I put Search Lights on the Rhinos and the 2 Ravens. You could throw melta bombs on someone.

I have read a little more about the ADL and found out that I need to have someone "manning" the gun. I think I can combat squad one of the Tac squads and use one of them to man it. I need to read it again to understand a little better how it works. I know a lot of people will take a librarian with a BRB Prescience power to reroll misses and what not. Not sure, like I said, I need to read a little more on it.

I'm kinda looking for something somewhat scalable so I can plan ahead. Maybe start w/ 1k and then 500 pt increments?

Well a good start for 500 would be something like

Librarian - JP

10m Assault Squad - Flamer, Melta, Sgt w/ Pwr Sword
5m Assault Squad - remove JP, razorback w/ Las/Plas

500 pts exactly.

That would give you some long range and close range capabilities. Librarian goes with the jumpers and does his thing. You would have to look at what powers to give him as I am still working on the 6th book.

For 1k, you could simply double this. Or try some other options. BA can get a little crazy. They are really good but you just have to find what works together.

I'm really looking for a 1k army list utilizing the units I have on hand. ATM, I only have five AM's but definitely plan on picking more up.

What all do you have available?

I have a bunch of 1000pt lists written up at home, I will post a couple of them later on today.

I have all the units listed in my initial post to use.

All you would need for this list is a Priest (proxy would work), and a Razorback.

Thanks for the help, Oblivion. Is this enough scoring units for a 1k army? What is the purpose of the Sanguinary Priest and is this a better option than a Librarian?

The Assault squad is also scoring, and their speed will help you either deny an objective to your opponent late game, possibly take one outright, or even just to gain the Linebreaker objective. Blood Angels are an aggressive army so it can be fairly easy to achieve First Blood and with a DC squad you should definitely have a shot at Slay the Warlord.

The Sanguinary Priest grants the Assault squad Furious Charge and Feel No Pain, both of which are great upgrades but they are doubly important when only running a 5-man squad.

Librarians are a great choice for BA as well but Death Company are fantastic in 6th edition and its best to take a Chaplain or the upgraded Reclusiarch with them.

Which should I get more of first, the DC or the Assault's?

Assault marines. DC can be a very powerful death star unit, but assault squads are the bread & butter of the Blood Angels.

Just so you know. You can buy a box of death company and paint them red. They don't have the same special weapons but you can get extra meltaguns and such off ebay. I love the look of the death company and am probably going to paint them red for my guys.

What i also did was use the tactical guys from AoBR as Bolter Death company. This is a cheap quick way of getting them. I will eventually upgrade them to proper DC model sometime.
