So with the faq dark angels have access to ven dreads with ws and bs 5 for only 145 points.

So what are peoples opinions about this and what load outs might be preferable.
I still dont see them being that usefull and would rather run a vindicator but would love to head dakkas thoughts.

It definitely makes them better, but AV12 dreads in general are pretty darn fragile. The big problem with ven dreads in 6th is that three glances or pens are still going to kill it, even with re-rolls of results on the pen damage table. This makes that re-roll ability much less valuable than it used to be.

Hull points made them worse IMO

Plus the only 2 weapons I would give it are both Twin linked. So the extra bs is a bit of a waste imo.

Assault cannon still hits on 2+ and that first pen roll that rolls a 6 still can be rerolled

I killed a LRR that would have destroyed my army once by rolling to glance then rolling 6 with melta. That was 5th ed however illustrates a time where having ability to reroll a really nasty result can make a huge difference

To me its more about either lots of amour or none, ie if you have a single piece of armour, or a few pieces of armour, forget it they will get chopped up. If you want armour to succeed take heaps of it. Otherwise 6th suggests footslogging is back on the menu.

Assault cannons and MM are good options which are not twin linked.

I used to really like plasma cannons, but now they are badly nerfed in this case.

More importantly now I would use TL weapons to shoot down flyers, as what else do the dark angels have. TL weapons do not need the BS increase.
