Subject: Competitive Necrons + GK [1750] tournament list - post FAQ

Alright, so the FAQ both buffed and (slightly) nerfed Necrons:
- Night Scythes got significantly better, as you can now get back inside. This is HUGE. It means you can actually hide your Immortals if they get shot up, and it lets you get to objectives far more effectively. Before, when you got out of your Scythe you'd committed your infantry entirely, there was no going back into hiding or moving to objectives quickly, when you got out you were there to stay.
- Doom Scythes got nerfed, as they can't hit other Flyers anymore =(
- Reserve bonuses from allies don't carry over, so IG is less appealing as an Ally now as their Astro does nothing for you.
- Immobilized results actually mean something for Flyers now, as it locks you into moving a specific amount of inches.
So, based on these changes I wrote this up:
Overlord, MSS, 2+, Warscythe 130
2x Stormtek 50
(5) Immortals, tesla 85 ---> Night Scythe 100
(5) Immortals, tesla 85 ---> Night Scythe 100
(5) Immortals, tesla 85 ---> Night Scythe 100
(5) Immortals, tesla 85 ---> Night Scythe 100
Annihilation Barge, teslacannon 90
Annihilation Barge, teslacannon 90
Annihilation Barge, teslacannon 90
Coteaz 100
(10) Purifiers, 4x Psycannon 280 ---> Razorback, TLHB 50
(3) Acolytes 12 ---> Razorback, TLHB 50
(3) Acolytes 12 ---> Chimera 55
= 1749
So, only 4 Flyers now. The single Doom scythe I used to use is gone, as it does nothing against other Flyers, and though it has good damage potential, I'd rather have another ABarge, as the DScythe tended to get one shot off then die.
The GK:s are there because Divination is the craziest ass gak ever. Pretty much every power there is great, and some are truly game breaking (Misfortune is insanely good for shooty armies). If you do happen to get something you don't need, you can just pick up the awesome Primaris.
The GK:s are also nice to have as they give you a unit that can push into midfield and threaten charges against opponents who die to them in CC. The large Purifier squad also shoots a crapload w/ Prescience rerolls. The acolytes are just there as cheap scoring, they can hold your base objectives for you or whatnot, you don't really want to leave your Immortals sitting on your board edge.
So yeah, comments welcome as always =)

you should try to fit in 2 more HoS teks drop one of the razorback s maybe.
Im not sure about the grey knights though as awesome as the divination are coteaz and the purifiers will get the undivided attention of the opposing force and will get shot up turn one and turn 2 if you go second by army's with a decent amount of shooting since none of the other things on the board turn 1 are high priority or dish out a huge amount of damage.

I dunno they are not that lethal they are very points effective but I wouldn't worry about them wrecking an army. i wouldn't worry if i was facing this list with my pure cron list.

I dont think this list is very good. At all. You lack durability, 30 MEQ and a few really crappy guardsmen aren't going to win you games. Also keep in mind that many armies are now switching over to infantry heavy lists. You need a way to deal with hordes of Orks, Nids and IG. I'd also worry about massed Marine lists.
That expensive Purifier squad will go down very, very quickly to anyone who really wants it gone.
I think this list is too heavily stuck in a 6th edition mentality. At NOVA what I witnessed was armies with durable infantry doing well and armies with vehicles doing rather poorly in comparison.
If you want fun with GK and Crons, take a GKGM and make some Wraiths scoring. That is hilarious and competitive.

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee. |

Yes but at NOVA 50% of the missions were quarters which makes mech lists such as the one above less strong. In a typical 40k mission using those out of the book this will be quite effective.

Not so much...50% of the book missions are objectives and having minimum sized squads won't really win you the war. Foot Heavy Lists will still generate a large amount of problems and have plenty of firepower.

Hmmm you do have a point. The lists I'm running at the moment at 1750 have two ghost arks which help not only because of target saturation but the extra 10 gauss flayers and the squads themselves are 9 strong

Yeah but Ghost Arks are expensive - 115 points, they have to be very good in comparison to usual cheap transports!

Again why tesla over guass?
I like that coteaz purifier combo and have used it to great effect even with a half sized unit. But it does stick out as the major threat in this army.
Decent list though but not as strong as id expect from you.

You shouldn't be shooting immortals at flyers though. Crons have far better things to take down flyers...
