Ok, so I have a massive back log of miniatures to paint and a vow to never again field an unpainted mini to honour.

I think an airbrush would really help speed things up by letting me get base coats down quicker.

To this end I am searching for a cheap brush/compressor kit, quality is not so important as price for it is solely to basecoat and little else. My question is that are brushes advertised for make up/self tanning/temporary tattoos functionally any different for these purposes or are there some features that I'd need that simply aren't present on that sort of brush?

Thanks.

For self tanning, those are sprayguns. Avoid.

Go to www.everythingairbrush.co.uk

Click on the kits, and you can get set up pretty easily for about £150 including useful stuff like primer, cleaning pots and tools etc.

I'm trying to spend less than a third of that if poss. I know it's a massive compromise but I'm working with limited resources at the moment.

I'm disregarding spray guns, but some are offered with dual action internal mix brushes, which I believe are ok for modelling?

Oh, and just FYI your guide to decals really helped. I have a Stormraven painted as Raven Guard with massive Forge World chapter symbols on the wings. I get asked regularly how I painted them so precisely!

So thanks for that!

There are some Chinese airbrushes for about £15 and a compressor with tank for less then £100. I don't recommend cheaper solutions.
