so this is where I want to go with this army that I posted earlier http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/474456.page. The list is based around a chapter I created called the Angels of Desolation, they are a remnant of a chapter destroyed by necrons. After they and the colony they were sworn to protect was all but destroyed by necrons, they changed their name from the Protectors to the Angels of Desolation, repaired their broken armor with the remnants of fallen necrons, and decided to fight like necrons: appearing from thin air wreaking havoc with ranged weapons then disappearing without a trace. They are infantry focused because when I first became interested in the hobby, so were the necrons. Their only close range squad is going to be decorated like anti flayed ones (wearing destroyed necrons) and the other men are meant to act mostly like I imagine immortals acting, hip firing huge heavy bolters (they're the coolest heavy weapon IMHO).

Strategically the goal of the army is this:
1) Have the Lib and the melta sternguards drop in first and destroy vehicles quickly then use gate to get them back to hold objectives/ join the gun line
2) have pedro and the vanguard drop in first turn and tear apart enemy hq and ranged elites, and just generally destroy things from the back til they eventually die
3) have scouts pin charging enemies to protect the gun line
4) have my last drop pod sternguard land in on an objective

So thats the fluff and the army, what do you think, any advice? i would like to stay all infantry though, also any advice on making this army 1500pts as well, but with the same feel.
I'm new to the gaming side of the hobby, but I love the fluff and modeling so I'm trying to get this army to retain fluff and modeling fun while still being feasible, thanks.

Overall, it looks solid but I have one big concern. What is the vanguard squad going to do when they land? I don't recall if they have any guns or not but it looks to me like they get to drop next to the "ranged elites and enemy hq," and get shot to pieces/charged by them.

Other than that, I dig the fluff; I hate necrons myself ever since I tried to play them in 5th, and I like the anti-necron vibe.

they do have bolt pistols I believe, but I think you are right, perhaps they should be termies... or maybe a command squad

Command squads don't take too kindly to plasma (which I bring lots of on my "elite ranged units") so I'd recommend something with a good invulnerable save. TH/SS termies maybe?

I think his point was to tie up into combat from turn 2. They deep strike then charge. Remember, Vanguard can assault after deep striking.

Another cool thing about Thunder Hammer terminators is you can use the praetorian shields as storm shields!
