I am not sure if this was discussed in the past, only identified an article relating to 5th edition which wasn't very clear.

Can a psyker, for example a Rune Priest, use divination powers when locken in CC?
I can't find a section in the rule book, which states that one can't, as long as it is not a shooting power.

Nothing stops him from using blessings while in close combat. He can't use witchfires though, so no nova while hugging the enemy.
Just forgot; unless it is stated under the power itself all blessings must be used in the beginning of the Movement phase, so if you forget it and move on to assault you'll have to do without.

So was I correct to be able to use Gate of Infinity to get my Hive Tyrant out of close combat?

Great, thanks PiXeL01!
So blessings will get activated in the movement phase as stated in the rulebook. If the Runepriest has been locked in cc for more than I turn, so he doesn't have an actual movement phase, can I still have him activate a psychic power in my movement phase?

Yeah, he still has a movement phase but since he is locked in cc he can't move.

If it requires a psychic test, it cant be cast while caster is locked in CC, a buff however (warlock powers) that are passive and on all the time, are also activated in combat.

@ PutZi: The activation of a force weapon in CC also requires a psychic test and is allowed. Is that different?

So every single psychic power used in the assault phase cannot be used? The only restriction on psychic powers when in cc is witchfire (nee PSA) powers.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Great, thank you guys! I also read a discussion from Phil Kelly just now, where he states that psychic powers can be used even when psyker is locked in cc, as long as it is not witchfire or powers that require shooting.

Rules citation required.
Hint - that's not correct.

While using the gate of infinity in cc is questionable(I don't care about debating it in this thread), any other power can be used if it is activated in the right phase.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

So can you or can you not Gate from Close Combat?

I don't care to debate it now. My opinion is you can activate it but I don't think it gives you permission to leave cc.

You can as there is no restriction on the ability to use the power in your movement phase.

Sorry for the late response, I was away from my book until now.

Gate is a blessing, which means it is castable when in cc so

Yes you can pull units out of cc with it. Note, you must do it in your movement phase and as the unit will be deep striking you can't assault afterwards

Ah, this old thing.

Regarding Novas:

"If a witchfire does not list a subtype, or simply describes itself as a psychic shooting attack, use the rules given above to resolve it". - This refers to the standard Witchfire rules

Novas automatically target and hit all enemy units within the power's max range

"Regardless of LoS, *being locked in close combat*....."

Pop it in close combat. It's like Gift of Chaos. Sure, it's a psychic shooting attack.... with special rules.

The way I interprete nova is that the psyker can hit models who are in cc, but he can't use it in cc because it is a nova, which is a witchfire and so can't be used while the psyker is in cc

Witchfire (Beam, Nova, Focused, Maelstrom) are considered shooting attacks and cannot be used in CC.

Blessings, Maledictions, and Conjurations can be resolved regardless of CC. They can be used while falling back, gone to ground, etc.. pg 67
