This project is to fund the production of a pump action pneumatic shotgun to fill flies with blasts of household salt.

They are in their last 24 hours so fund it now to get one!

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

You can also use guns that shoot salt to get rid of ghosts. It's on Supernatural, so it's true.

If it weren't, there wouldn't be a billion-dollar industry dedicated to people simulating war and slaughter on large scales in their spare-time on their kitchen-table

This thing is for actually killing living beings, not just simulating it.
Plus for blinding your younger brother, I guess

It's for killing flies and other insects, in terms of moral objection-ability I would place this somewhere between anti-bacterial soap and RAID.

Besides that, I think we're pretty clear the answer to the rhetorical question is Yes*.

*That channel has the best ads I have ever seen.

I bought two for gifts.

My father is mild mannered man that absolutely hates flies. He calls them EffEffs (I'll leave it as an exercise to reader what the first F stands for). I once saw the man hit a fly with a rubber band. He'll love this thing.

My brother likes guns. So, that's an easy get.

This thing is for getting rid of annoying bugs (which can, in the tropics, even be a health hazard).

It's insects in the end. I'd place this far, far below things like wearing a leather-belt or ordering some chicken McNuggets. I have a small garden. Slugs there also often get a lethal treatment. BTW, how many insects do you think were left homeless (and likely dead) to make the paper and cardboard for the recent 40K Dark Vengeance Box or 40K Rulebooks?

The other, in comparison, is for kids as young as 12 (and sometimes younger) fantasizing about eviscerating actually sentient beings with weaponized chainsaws.

So I've had mine for a few weeks now, need to do more testing with it but I'm yet to successfully kill anything with it. Maybe I'm not using the right kind of salt

I got mine about... hmm, a week and a half ago, and it's a fun thing indeed. I have used it to kill some bugs indeed!

Hmm, I'll see if I can rustle up some pictures in the morning and do a bit of a review...

I'm a proud owner of one as well. I had a great time the other day blasting spiders in the garage

A few pics and my thoughts.

The item itself;

When I finally got the gun out of its packaging, I was very pleasantly surprised by the heft of it. It has a bit more weight then something like, say, a super-soaker, and it has a nice, solid feel to it.

There are a few imperfections: you can see some scratches to the upper assembly that probably occurred during early manufacturing (as they are painted over), and, more seriously, the clear plastic cap to the salt reservoir is a very brittle plastic. The problem there is that the clear cap has a little cast-in-plastic clip that holds the lid down... which snapped off the instant I tried to open it . There is a little cosmetic damage to the cap as well, looks like it was touched either by an industrial solvent or adhesive. But, since I am using some electrician's tape to hold the thing closed (no clip, heh), scarcely noticeable.

Looks aside, let's get to the real question: how does it shoot? Well...

That's the spray pattern of the salt at a range of about 18-20 inches. It's about a 3" burst, and it may be a bit difficult to tell from the picture, but there is some serious deformation to the target (aluminum foil here) at the center.

There are a bunch of warnings on this thing about not pointing it at pets, people or eyes... DO NOT POINT IT AT PEOPLE! This thing really throws a blast of salt at good velocity. I'm not sure it could break the skin, but it would hurt like a mofo, and could seriously mess up eyes.

One additional important thing: I'm not sure if I simply missed it when we opened the packaging, or it's not mentioned, but in the bottom of the salt reservoir there is an orange plastic post with a hole in it. When the gun arrived, this post was up, and we found that there was no real strength to the shots (they seemed to not put out any salt). On a whim, I depressed this post, which locked into that position, and after that, found that it was quite a blaster! So if it doesn't seem to be working, make sure that post is in the "down" position.

Overall, am I happy to have it? Heck yeah!

Would I buy another, or give one as a gift? I would have one concern: it's really not a toy, it's definitly not something I would give a kid that I wouldn't, say, let handle a sharp kitchen knife. Would I give one to, say, my dad? I already did (he loved it, hehe!).
