Ok, i used a D-Lord with some Wraiths (only 3 as it was a small game0 for the first time ever last ngiht and was rather chuffed with how well they performed. i sahll be getting a full 6 man squad.

My concern is that, once he joins the unit, you can never take advantage of the lord T6, is that right?

So a question to players who use this squad regularly - is it worth making your D-Lord T4 to put him in a squad fo Wraiths?

Couldn't you put him in the line of fire with a sempiternal weave to soak up small arms fire? Bolters and the like will take a while to get through T6 and a 2+ AS. Unless I'm mistaken of course, I must confess to not really knowing why you can't take advantage of his T6!

You have to use the majority toughness when being shot at for a unit, the the majority of Wraiths make the lord wounded on a 4 toughness if he is the closest model. However, he cannot be double out as his toughness is 6. If you get down to where 1 Wraith is alive with your Lord, then the majority toughness becomes 6, or you can run 2 D. Lords and when the Wraiths have 2 models left the majority toughness will also be 6 and that is 12 possible wounds all at toughness 6.

The T6 is still useful in challenges though

This. DLord with MSS and SW is a beast. Wraiths are just convenient meatshields to get them into the thick of it.

Yeah, i was using mine recently to soak small arms with a 2+, then used the wraiths to soak high AP shots with their invulns, worked well.
But yes, run them in groups of 6, 3 whipe coils

I think the best part of the DLord is that he gives the rest of the unit preferred enemy everyone! Re-rolling 1's on hits is nice. Re-rolling wounds when you only need 2's is pure GOLD!

Does anybody bother giving a couple of the wraiths the S6 pistol or not?

i suppose it might be handy for a bit of overwatch or a to soften a unti up before the charge.

I don't just because it's 5pts per model. That's 30pts if you kit out 6 - almost a wraith. And it takes the place of whip coils. No thanks.

Destroyer lords are also great when stuck in 10 man squads of tesla imortals, re-rolling 1's to hit and wound where every 6 to hit gives me +2 hits? Yes please, then I get to assault you and destroyer lord munches your face off.

The pistols are useful for sucking up 5 or 10 points if you have it left over in your army but anything over that and it is just better to add another Warrior to a squad(if you are running them). They are a good gun I would be happy to have if it came as standard equipment, but the nature of Wraiths simply only puts them in a position to use the pistol once or twice in a game if ever, and there just aren't enough shots from them to be reliable for over watch. But again I recommend magnetizing 2 or 3 just in case you want to throw 5 or 10 points on them when you have it.
