Hi there! This is honestly my first post here ever, but I have been coming here for years for advice and ideas, or just to admire the pretty pictures.

All the information and upcoming release of the 6th Chaos Space Marine Codex has got me very interested in returning to my first love, with the despair and horrid taste of the old 4th edition codex finally going away. This time having obtained a bit more knowledge about the tabletop game, painting, modeling, and flavor than I had when I started back in 2008 with tabletop version of 40k.

With all that in mind, I want to do things right and make myself a themed Slanneshi only cult army, which on the tabletop will be perfectly playable as a CSM army with Daemon allies that are all dedicated to Slannesh. The primary focus is more of a modeling project and less geared towards how "competitive" it would be.

While the Emperor's Children Noise Marines are going to be a core part of the flavor of the army, I am having a lot of difficulties with the "auxiliary" units that need to look "right" for the flavor. Unfortunately the current GW model range for chaos does not represent this ideal, as they more cater to chaos undivided, towards a different chaos god, or are just flat out terrible models. Therefor I am not above, and am heavily considering using third party 28mm models as replacements for official GW models.

I have already found replacements for Daemonettes, as the Daemonettes currently offered by GW are terrible in my opinion and do NOT represent my view of the servants of lord of excess.
((if you wanted to know, I purchased these as replacements, can't wait for my shipment of 50 of them in the resin version comes in so I can start working on them. http://www.ragingheroes.com/collections/complete-collection/products/preying-mantis ))

With Dark Vengeance having been released, and pictures of the chaos cultists that it includes coming out, I have realized that their models do NOT fit with the image I have in mind for Emperor's children / Slannishi cultists.

The Images in my head actually boil back down to the look in the original Dawn of War game for Chaos Cultists, with the right paint scheme. Pictures are included below of what i am looking for specifically. I would prefer Female cultists to anything else like the first picture, but mixing the two together would be acceptable.

With all this being said, it now boils down to my real question I wish to ask the oracles here in Dakka Dakka, as I work on my modeling project, does anyone know where I can find models that would fit in with my image of what Slanneshi cultists look like? I am willing to consider the standard GW line, special models from Forgeworld, third party models, or even heavy conversions if I must to make this dream come to life.

Thank you all for your time.

Welcome to Dakka.

I do not know much about Emperor's Children in particular, but hopefully I can be of a bit of help or inspiration.

The mantids are a nice supplement for fans of the previous metal daemonettes. However, I do recommend giving them a little dignity as they are quite nude models, and the last thing you want is drama at the FLGS. (greenstuffing some strands of ribbon should be simple enough)

If you want to convert some cultists like in the first picture(second one has a NO HOTLINKING redirect) then the Dark Eldar Wyches kit seems to be a strong place to start, maybe even adding in the legs from the Dark Elf Warriors kit. (I don't know how well they scale together, but they look like they would fit.

However, I do think you may want to reconsider on the Dark Vengeance cultists, to some degree. The two sergeants at very least could very well be painted up in a way so they'd fit the look of Slaannishi cult.(they are quite fashionable fellows)

Wouldn't worry much about drama at the LGS. Most figure lines have something as nude or more so in them.

On the cultists...so, basically you are looking for bondage queens and dominatrices?

Dark Age miniatures has a good selection of leather bound girls.

Heresy's Gangers have the look to IMO - though I don't know if it is exactly the look you are after (not sure if you want the general feeling...or if you are somehow married to the skirt):

I guess though, I would need to know specifically what you consider to be the defining aspect of what you linked to. The colors are irrelevant - as those will be added later. Lots of options though.

Thank you for your replies,

Firstly for your convenience Ekoi, I uploaded the links to a website that should allow hotlinking, would you please try them now and make sure they both work properly.

And yes, you hit it on the head, I am married to the skirt, this is the look I want them to have. Therefor the skirt is required, this would be part of the defining look i am going for with their models as you asked Sean_OBrian.

The second part of the defining look, and I know this sounds strange for Slanneshi cultists, but I would prefer the shirt being required too. Midriff bearing is fine and in fact preferred for females. But it is important to note this is their armor and therefor needs to at least offer a bit of protection comparable to that of a Dark Eldar Wych if they are to have any save at all

Next thought. Using the torso's from Dark Eldar wyches... that could indeed work, I have worked with those models in the past for my DE army, and there are multiple torso's in that package that would work perfectly for what i have in mind for cultists. (Its a start!)

The legs from DE warriors though are a no go... no skirt. Also will need heads and arms. To give you a heads up, I'm planning these to be auto-pistol / ccw cultists, so for the vast majority of them outside the special weapons, I could probably use the wych arms with their stabby knives and possibly even the pistols if i give them a bit of conversion to the right look.

Similarly, As this is not just a modeling project but will be a playable army, whatever i end up using will need to be mass produced, as i plan to put together 60 to 120 cultists.

With all this in mind, does anyone have any ideas where i could find Legs for cultists (with these long skirts) as well as human heads that would match what i am looking for?

DE Warrior's chainskirts are no-go? Besides simply adding greenstuff to DE Wyches legs...

WE Glade Guard legs are fairly clothed, but I'm not sure it's long enough coverage for what you want.

HE Archer legs look like they have long enough cloth, and is mostly a blank canvas to work with.

On the LotR side of things...(mind you I have zero idea on how well their bits scale with WHFB/40k)

Warriors of the Dead have some very long and tattered garments. Warriors of the Last Alliance have long skirts too.

As for wargear, there are plenty of kits with extra knives and swords and other small-arms weapons, especially in WHFB kits. I do not know the stats of an autopistol but I'd guess it's identical to a laspistol. Laspistols are easy enough to come by, but if you're short it's also easy to shrink lasrifles into them as well. Bolt pistols may also be a filler option.

Heads... I'm not sure how much I could help. No clue on how well non DE heads will fit on wych torsos, and I don't want to gamble with your money, so to speak.

Thank you for the reply. I actually totally missed the HE archer legs. But those look perfect! My only concern is mixing those with Wych torso's if they will fit together cleanly. If they will, then i think we have a winner.

Right now my general plan is.

Round base
HE Archer legs
DE Wych torso
DE Wych knives
DE Wych Pistol (arm)

Which gets the basic model down.

As for the Pistol, I am at a loss. The DE Wych splinter pistols might work as a "counts as" but for best results i should cut it off and use a conversion to the auto pistols. I probably want to wait on this till the cultist kit actually comes out and see if their auto pistol is any better before i do any research.

The last little bit is the head. For the body style female guardsman heads might be perfect. Sadly GW doesn't make female guardsman heads, or bodies... So i will have to look to third party for this one.

Again, thanks for all the ideas on this. I'm actually beginning to think making my vision of cultists might be possible and easier than I thought!

If robes would work for long skirts, then perhaps the lower halves Empire Flagellants might work.

There are female guard heads out there, just can't remember who makes them...
