So Astral Aim ignores LOS when firing, but do you measure closest model to closest model to get the distance, or around any LOS blocking terrain between the weapon and the target?
Played against a guy recently who basically built a wall across the table with huge pieces of completely solid terrain and parked three Purgatiion squads on the other side of it. Didn't think of this until today.
What do you think?

You measure range normally; as in, to the nearest model through (rather than around) the LOS-blocking terrain.
There are some other issues with wether or not you can allocate wounds using an astral-aimed weapon, but it doesn't modify how you determine range.

Yeah, I read about the wound allocation/LOS thing on here. IMHO, that's a debate for this board, not a real game. I'll keep playing that it can wound unless it gets faq'd. RAI and all that.
Thanks for the reply.

24". ignore LOS, but you can only allocate wounds to models that are in the range of the purgation squad's weapons

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Yup, by RAW Astral Aim is basically useless. Same applies to every other "ignore LOS while shooting" power or weapon.
Note that wounds can normally be allocated to models that were out of range of the shooting attack and I see no reason why this wouldn't apply to Astral Aim, RAW and RAI.
