So yer despite being a green skin at heart I bought the new DV box set and together with the old AOBR, a random tactical squad and some other random old bits (some pretty dam old) have decided to get a small space marine army up and running. I however, like my models to be unique and as such have decided to go down the route of having them as my own chatper rather than a named one. This seemed like a good idea until I realised that the new DV models are all modelled as Dark Angels. Now I have nothing against the Dark Angles but as stated above I wanted my own personal cahpter (and wanted to run it as a bog standard marine list rather than Dark Angles) rather than an existing one and didnt particualry wan't to file all the models down due to laziness and the fact that I'd proabaly ruin them in the process.
After some diliberation I came up with an idea and as such would liek to introduce you all to the Sword's Of Truth.
Clearance level Charlie: Accepted
Accessing file Swords Of Truth
Displaying Chatper Overview
The Swords Of Truth are a third founding Dark Angel's succesor chapter that display all the stubborness of the Dark Angels even going so far as to ignore thier parent chapters organisational structure regarding the Deathwing and Ravenwing, preferring to organise themselves in the same way as other codex chapters. Thier symbol is a adaptation of the winged sword that the Dark Angels bear with black wings and a golden sword. The chapter itself is at the moment realing from a devestating blow dealt by the Fallen (See sub section Damatres Disaster) and at current have no scout company and only three companies worth of Tactical Marines. As such although they would normally followed the rigid structure of the Codex Asatres, they currently have their Devestator and Assault companies dispersed to serve amongst the depleted Tactical companies. This combined with the full strength Veteran company (see sub section Damatres Disaster) having also been dispersed under the belief that their superior skills and equipment, usually held for specifically hazardous tasks, would be useful to their brother marines at a time when casualties can ill be afforded.
This combined arms approach gives the chapter just under six equally equipped companies (exceptions to the 2nd and 4th companies which are noted below) which they can call upon. The chapter is also currently Fleet Based (see sub section Damatres Disaster) with most of their strength situated around the Eye Of Terror helping several other chapters with containment duties. Of note is also that several of the companies (2nd and 4th) have a severly depleted vechile pool (see sub section Damatres Disaster) and have developed a reliance on covert operations and correctly timed Terminator strikes using skills learnt and adapted from their time serving with alongside the Raven Guard.

Hope you all liked that small bit oif fluff and I promise that I will elaborate on the Damatres Disaster soon don't worry but anyway here's the first models that I've painted up for them.
Here's the first finsihed 5 marines (minus the basing) .
Marines from Tactical squad Atarius 'The Hounured', Swords of Truth 2nd Conpany under captian Vanarta
Veteran Sargeant Atariu: A man of much respect in the Swords Of Truth chapter, not just the second company. This vetern holds nealry as many honours as captian Vanarta and has refused any further prgression in the chapter several times always stating that his place is on the battlefield with his battle hardened squad of battle brothers, strengths and weaknesses of each he knows like the back of his own hand.
Brother Anarkus. A hot headed and quick to anger marine kept in check on the battlefiled by Atarius's consuelling. Veteran of plasma weaponary Anarkus wields the squads special weapon to great affect.
Basic colour scheme is light grey armour with dark green trims, which along witht he red gun casing's are a tie in to the parent chapter. This is completed with gold isignia and other bits and pieces. The company symbol as mentioned above is the same as the Dark Angels one, only black wings with a golden sword through the middle instead of white. Special weapons are given a more ornate look to them than other guns (please note that in real life the plasma gun is highlighted to almost pure white on the blue, the picture seems to have made it appear a lot darker).
I hope you all enjoy.
TARGETS:
10th August - 17th August 2012: 10 Tactical Marines (Squad Atarius) COMPLETED
17th August - 23rd August 2012: Libarian Alphara

Thanks and my bad I thought beakies was a slang term for space marines in general. I'll change that lol.

Random Libarian PiP update for you all to just show you how hes coming along.
Wen't for the whole dark angels blue colour scheme for the libarian with the standard Swords Of Truth shoulder pads (please note he has the gold trim denotoing veteran or command status on his right shoulder pad rather than the tactical marines green trim. His back pack while mainly blue also has the green vents to help tie him in.
As of the moment I've finished painting the blue armour and his robes but all the rest is either unstarted or still PiP. The sword is also a bit of a wierd point in that its the first time I've tried painting a force sword and I'm a bit unsure about it. I think my current plan is to wait till I've finished it and see what it looks like with the completed model.
Anyway here are the pictures.
Libarian Alphara of the 'Swords Of Truth'. Attached to the 3rd company as a aide to Captian Vanatra.
Hope you all enjoy.

Well I'm back with some more progress on Libarian Alphara and then soemthing a bit different.
Firstly I'm changing the thread to a catch all thread for everything I'm painting (including fantasy and anything else) as I appear to have a rather short attention span when it coems to only painting one force.
Now heres the libarian as he currently stands at about 85% complete. Need to finsih up his face and then do soem touching up and get the base done and he should be good to go. Standing him next to sargeant Atarius though shows how different the two minatures look but hopefully the basing and the bits of green and red on the model will help tie him in.
Anyway here's some pictures:
And now for soemthing a bit different. Basically I got shiny model syndrome last year when they released the new Necrons and got a 1500pt army of them for christmas. NOw this army unlike all the other 40k ones contained transports and vechiles. Fast forward a couple of months and the Ghost Arks although lovel models have made me put aside the army thanks to how long it was taking to assemble and paint bit by bit (perhaps a bronze and lava based scheme wasn't the best idea for efficiency on them but oh well).
Anyway I moved a couple of months back and took my Necron, Orks and Space Marines armies with me (along with my Orcs for fantasy). Whilst sitting there looking at the new models a few months back I bit the bullet and finished up the first Ghost Ark. Now despite the guns having to be in a fixed position due to several drops and break and the model being slightly crooked I'm pretty pleased with how the 'Scorpion' (as my girlfriend puts it) has turned out.
Anyway heres some pictures of the first vechile to awaken for the Orantep Dynasty.
Ghost Ark 001
Sorry for the pictures of the Ark not being brilliant (chopping block doesnt quite make the bext photo shoot). Hopeully I can try and get better ones when I've finished its squad up.
Right that's all for now. I hopefully plan on finsihing up Alphara tomorrow and then I've got Ghost Ark 002 currently being sub assembled by the tomb spiders as we speak, oh and I wan't to try and get Warrior Squad 001 finished an...... yer lots to do.
Happy Painting.

Well I've got the Liabarian finsihed up and based and thanksfully my worries about it not fiiting in was a bit uneeded as he fits in just fine (well I think he deos anyways).
Heres a photo of him finished and with some of squad Atarius.
Also some of my Orks Nobz army which I'm goign to try and get finished up by the end of this week (seeing as I've acheieved this weeks target already) and also finishing up the sub assembling of my second Ghost Ark.
This army was more of a moddelling army than a painting army so every model in it is aimed to be converted unlike my marines and necrons which arn't converted at all.
Hope you all enjoy.

Got the Ork nobz that I wanted to finish up finished yesterday so heres some pictures of that. As you can see Iv'e cahnged the theme to more of a Bad Moon style even though there supposed to be freebooters but I like the yellow and how it stands out next to both my crons and marines. So heres the fnsihed models (thoguh I'm repaionting the cross on the painboy a more white ish colour.
Close up of my two favourite. The huge choppa guy and the doc.
As for my crons and marines I've got another tactical squad as my main project for this week and as much of my second Ghost Ark as I can get done.
Hope you all enjoy.
Happy painting!

Not much today just the result of about six hours of straight painting on Tactical Squad Vanatra (or alternatveily the Dark Vengeance Dark Angels marines)
Not a lot but its progress. All the grey armour is done and I've started on the green. This unit seems to be going a lot faster than the last one so might be able to try and get the Ghost Ark done towards the end of the week but we'll have to see.
That's all for today.

Hey guys got the second tactical squad done today so heres some pictures of them. Really liking these models actually (there the snap fit ones from the new DA boxset painted as my own chapter). Much better than the last box set sculpts.
1st Tactical Squad Vanatra 'The Steadfast'of the Swords Of Truth 3rd Company
This squad was the one that Vantra led until he was promoted to company Captian. As such the squad retains his name rather than changing it to their current veteran sergeants name Jericho, like the tactical squads of the chatper normally do. This squad can also normally be found supproting Vnatraon the batlefield acting as his gaurd.
Now some close ups of the squad firstly Veteran Sargeant Jericho and the weapons speacilists.
And an army shot of what I've painted up o far.
Thats all for now. Next up on the list is a unit of 5 terminators from the AOBR boxset.
Hope you all enjoy.

Just a small update on the terminators that I've been painting this week. Tried to help tie them into the tactical marines but at the saem time make them stand out so have decided that they should have a lot of gold on them seeing as the veterans helmets in the chapter are gold anyways as well as shoulder trims. I think the back story is going to be something along the lines of originally the entire suits were made from a golden metal but over the years of fighting and the fact that they lost thier homeworld where they sourced the material from means, a lot of the gold armour has had to be replaced with the standard grey coloured armour of the chapter hence why the terminators have a rather mishmash approach to where the gold plates appear on the models. This also adds to helpign the chapters elite stand out a bit from eachother while still remaining cohesive. As such the sergeants of the terminators and veteran squads will have more gold armour on them than the other veterans (as well as leaders and such). Anyway all this talk would be better explained in pictures so here they are.
Also note that thier all WIP.
First guy is finished in all but the base which due to the size I'm still making my mind up on what to put on it.
First of sorry its a bitt blurry. A rear view of the model. Decided it'd add a cool effect to have the armour powered by a plasma like source mainly to add soem colour to the scheme. Also shows some of my attempts at freehand.
Second guy which needs a few extra bits done to it but is mostly finished.
Top down view of the second guy with more freehand and battle damage.
basically only base colours on the sargeant but shows the increased amount of gold on him.
My first attempt at a power weapon done like the grey knights ones. I like it but will probably draw the white further up the blade next time I try it on a model.
Fianlly a shot of the bascially finished termie next to the DV vet sarge.
Comments and Critiscms appreciated and I hope you enjoy looking at these and apologise again for any that are a little blurry.

Another small update on Terminator Squad Octaro.
Finished off Octaro himself. Pretty pleased with how he came out to be honest. I hope the freehanding doesn't ruin it as I think it helps break up what othrewise would have been a rather bland model.
Also a small shot showing squad Octaro so far.
Now I really need to actually get back to writing up some more background for these guys and finishing up this squad so hopefully one of these two wikll be up next.
Happy Painting.

Finally finished Terminator squad Octaro so here they are for your veiwing pleasure.
2nd Terminator Squad Octaro 'The Avenged' of the Swords Of Truth 3rd Company
Now some clsoe ups of the individual Terminators.
Firstly Terminator Veteran Sargeant Octaro.
Terminator briother Ontar (note how they all bear different shield designs, this one bearing his personnal heraldry with a sword in one of the quarters in rememberance of a lost battlebrother)
Terminator brother Vica bearing his own heraldry which includes the chatpers name sake in the design and a honour plate for lost battlebrothers and squad honours on his back
Terminator brother Sart not bearing his own heraldry but another roll of squad honours.
Terminator brother Gerad with his own heraldry.
There yoy go that's all for now. Iplan on getting a unit of missile dev's painted up next (I know I said more back story but I honestly haven't had anymore ideas about it yet so can't really progress with it).
Hope you like the update.

A small update on the current state of the Devestators that I'm curretnly painting.
1st Devestator Squad Vitor 'Punishers' of the Swords Of Truth 3rd Company
Close up of veteran sargeant Vitor (please note that this guy is a very old model and apparently his face didn't do to well when I stripped the paint, hence the scar to try and cover up the worse of it)
An old school shoulder mounted missile lauhncer dev.
The other three newer models that make up the rest of the 5 man squad.
As you can see I've gone for blue for the debvestators helms to help set them apart from the tactical marines which I think works well with the chapter colours.
Hope you all like this smalll update.

Another quick update here for you all on Devestator squad Vitor. I've finsihed them all apart from the basing so here's some finished versions of the photos above sans bases.
Firstly the whole squad
2nd ed missile marine (given that this model was covered in paint not so long ago not to bad a salvage job in my opinion)
The three newer marines.
Fianlly sargeant Vitor. Unfourtunately this guy didn't fair to well after paint stripping as stated above but still it's not a completely disastorous finish. Also note the second picture showing the squad name (All my sargeants will have their names on their armour somewhere).
There we go . As for the company marking III I compltely forgot it and rather than cluttering up the mini's anymore I'm goign with it being in the same place as tactical squad Atarius and as such on the corner of the shoulder pad where the missile laucnhers sits and covered up with purity seals on the sarge.
As for the next models I'm currently adding the base layers to Tactical squad Matrius the final tactical squad in my 1500pt list (just another 5 termies ad captian Vanatra to go).
Hope you all enjoy.

Another update mainly showing where I am with the army as a whole. Firstly though the finished Devestator squad based.
Next I have a finsihed army shot at its current state. Just under 1000pts of models based on my army list.
This includes bother Tactical Squads Atarius and Vanatra, Devestator Squad Victor, Terminator Squad Octaro and Libarian Alpharus all ready for battle.
This is what I've got left unstarted.
Captian Vanatra and Terminator Squad (insert nane here)
Also currently being painted is this Tactical Squad Morten.
On top of this I've started painting my DV Chaos marines as well just for something a bit different so I hope to show them soon.
Hope you all enjoy

Welcome all to my thread for Papa Nurgle. I've joined the Call of Chaos (over at Bolter and Chainsword) in order to get my DV Chaos side done. As you can probably guess I'm going for Nurgle themed look for my marines as he is by far my favourite chaos god (followed by Khorne, Tzeentch and then then Slaneesh). As of this moment I don't actually have the codex but if I did I think I'd run an army based on cultists backed up by chosen and raptors rather than a core of marines.
Anyway that's not what you came here for, this hopefully is. Basically I'm going for a rotted feel to them with pipes meant to look like intestines and such. The basic scheme is going to be green with a dark metal/bromnze trim with bone cased boltguns and other small details.
So here's some pictures of my test model (which can't be counted for the call due to it being painted before the 2nd Nov but oh well I wanted a test mini anyways). At this stage hes just base coated and washed with green/brown for the armour and brown for the rest. At the moment I like the look (with exception to the skin cloth that has turned out a bit to dark but hey I can correct that later) and hopefully you will too. (Also ignore my trusty minature stand for painting lol).
There you go and I hope you all enjoy.
Praise to Nurgle.

(Again I suck at taking pictures but bear with me). Basically this is the test model finsihed (bar the basing and varnishes). I'm pretty pleased with the outcome to be honest. and had lots of fun painting him so am looking forward to starting the call properly.
