I've noted that True Scale is very popular amongst many on the Forum. I have to say I'm the same, I find the Imperial Guardsman being the same height as an Astartes a bit annoying/ aesthetically vexing. However do you really need to get out lots of Plasticard, GS and custom pieces and redo every arm, leg, torso to get an adequate effect?

I think the solution of adding extra elements to the Hips, Thighs and Waist, is not beyond most of us. Better yet if can make several masters you could cast your own, But do not think of selling it .

I think this is a nice simple and visual effective way of doing it without going to town on it.

Someone, somewhere must make "Slightly oversize Knight legs"?

I enjoy true scale models (and i definitively like the picture (and especially the Abbadon) however i can't point you towards a specific set of legs. I suppose the most rewarding and problematic way is to green stuff/plasticard build them yourself, and then recast them (for personal use ofcourse, wouldn't want another flamefest on the topic).

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

Here's to hoping that GW will eventually release Space Marines to scale...

I have tried this method and it works well, however the main difficulty with true scale is "bulkiness". The problem is there is a 7' tall (and quite bulky) super soldier inside already bulky armour. Unfortunately you can only achieve this affect well if you use terminator models as a base, which can obviously be very expensive. This however is the best "cheap" way of doing true scale marines (besides I feel you have to use the "movie marines" rules with them to do them justice on the table top).

Agreed on most counts, the slightly oversize Legs are the best option, Space Marine Torso's are massive anyway when you consider where the Shoulders go and I especially like the way the Chaos Marine next to Abaddon looks. He looks bulky enough to be a Marine without needing hours of Customisation. This is easy if you want to do a 2000pt force or what have you.

Looking at Chapter house Studio's they have some Tru-scale Legs, but I'm unsure how much height they addon.

Anyone got any experience of these and able to post up a picture of them against normal legs?

I think the Space Marine on the End is a little too big. I think marines would be more like a more built up Basketball player rather than the Body builder on the end, But then the pelvis needs to wider otherwise they would walk like John Wayne in armour.

A note should be said that the GW kits are not "accurately" proportioned anyway, they are made to look good on the table top. (e.g guns are too big, heads too big, legs too short ect)

So with that in mind, I actually think that this guy looks about right, (to me anyway)

I think the marine in the centre is about what I think they should look like next to a Normal Guardsman.

@Mad4mini's that is an awesome picture, it illustrates exactly the comparison that I was after. Thank you very much.

With regards to the anatomy picture, up there; I'd always assumed the armour to be thicker than that. Kind of more Gears of War proportions than a really tall sumo wrestler with abs.

I'm a big fan of how Space Marine (the game) portrays the proportions of everything. Shoulder pads are altered so the wearer can actually see over them (and none of this 'they lower automatically' nonsense), the armour gives a definite sense of weight and bulk but still looks like armour, etc. I especially like how they re-proportioned the Dreadnoughts to make infinitely more sense.

Also, Orks don't have cartoon gorilla legs.
