Lately i've been using 2 tyrant guards to buddy up to Swarmlord, here's my thought though, i should drop down to one right? Cause if i get Iron arm for biomancy and i get in close combat they hit highest toughness, which could be 9...Plus they hit highest weapon skill which IS 9 and would make a lot of units hit on 5s. Makes sense right? And this way i still get a look out sir and some dump off wounds.

I'm still making up my mind about this.
On one hand, having a single tyrant guard attached can let you use majority toughness and WS on the unit.
On the other hand, if you attach a tyranid prime to the unit you have an additional character, so you don't have to worry so much about the swarmlord getting stuck in challenges.

Possibly...But idk if i have the points for it in this list. I've got 80 points open and no room to stretch. Only the bare essential upgrades on the Tervigons have been taken.

What if you don't get Iron Arm then? What are you going to do then? You have to think of "what if I don't get it".

Right now you are only thinking of "what if I do get it?". So what is your strategy if you don't get Iron Arm?

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

This.

I'd take two as a minimum. If you get IA, then you still benefit from EW and the Str bonus. If you don't get it, at least you still have some ablative wounds to take some hits for you.

I like my scenario where the whole unit cant be wounded better..
Actually i like the Prime Scenario Best, but i'm short 5 Points for the Double bone swords and am still list hammering, Lmao That whole Unit would be Awful to deal with. No majority WS so CC you go straight to the lords 9, and on the lucky roll (6 possible powers, 4 chances not really a long shot) The unit loses a T majority and becomes T 7+ in CC, and if i DONT get it, i have a stronger, faster tyrant guard with a higher wound value that as long as swarmlord is alive counts as T6 for most instances...5 points between me and troll heaven..

I didn't even think of that. It still works with the tyranid prime attached. There is one T5 model, one T6 model, and one T6 + D3 model, so you still take the highest. Same with weapon skill.

Well, that works out pretty nicely then.

Neat little shenanigans isnt it? And even if i dont roll the Iron arm it still counts as a T6 WS 9 Unit. And the Prime isnt exactly a pushover, plus according to the FAQ for a Tyrant or the swarlord joining a Tyrant Guard Unit it claims lootout sirs on as if it were an IC so i can claim a 2+ look out sir on the Prime as well.

I use one or none. He usually just goes squish. If you get iron arm + endurance/gate of infinity up on the swarmlord then doesnt really matter. love the big guy zipping around. love FNP and it will not die more.

at 2000 i usually dont have enough points left over to take a tyrant guard.

so far i have never not gotten iron arm. terrible to think of really. ummm die well i guess?
