Ok so I want to make my 1st 500 point army list from the models I already have but I have no idea what goes well together or what to have in my army would someone help me make a good starter list from the models iv already got unless I realy need to get something else to make it work ?
The models iv got are
The aobr sm force
The captain, a 10 man sm squad with a flamer and rocket launcher, another 6 man sm squad with bolters and a sergeant with a bolt pistol and power sword, 5 terminators and the dreadnought and also 6 scouts , 4 with snipers 1 rocket launcher and 1 heavy bolter ?

Ok, using what you have I'd suggest the follwing list:

Aobr Captain
Power Sword, Bolt Pistol, Artificer Armour
(2+ armor save, 4++ invulnerable)

AoBR Dreadnought
MM, CCW, Storm Bolter

10 man Tactical Squad
flamer, missile, Sgt w/ combi-melta (you might have to proxy this)

5 man Scout Squad
3x snipers, HB, Sgt with sniper, Camo Cloaks

This list comes in at 500pts, and most opponents will let you slide on proxying your combi-melta on the sgt.

Its not the best list, but will give you good all around effectiveness.

Try playing games with the scouts using both the HB and your ML, see which you like best. Remember if you roll 6's they are rending and precision shots (pick off characters)

Throw the Captain in with the tac squad and march toward the enemy with the Dread, with the Sniper laying down covering fire.

If you can get you hands on him snatch up a Librarian from the new DV boxed set, you can get him on ebay for like $6 with shipping, and he would be preferable to the captain.

Just make sure to play these games on a 2x4 board or smaller at this point value or there will be too much space for too few models,

I'd keep the bolt pistol and swap out the chainsword, or you can make a rifle sling out of a bit of wire/greenstuff and pin it to his body like its slung over his shoulder. As long as it's on the model you're good My preference for keeping the bolt pistol is you can fire that and assault, something you can't do with the combi-melta, and in terms of the rules the pistol and chainsword are identical in terms of ccw rules.

I don't think the sergeant from the aobr set has a bolt pistol I think it's just a chain sword and an empty hand with a pointing finger :s

500 points? wow small army

Scout squad should deploy in ruins and use their sniper rifles to harrass any units as much as possible
Dreadnought with assault cannon can mow down units AND take out anything that isn't wiedling a power fist or melta gun.
Why proxy a captain as Chaplain Cassius?
look at his stats. he'll give your tac squad rerolls to hit, and he's a monster himself. T6, 4+ inv save, Feel No Pain, and master crafted combi-flamer for those snap-fire overwatch times...

Captain - Relic Blade, Boltgun,

Tactical Squad - 10x Marines, Flamer, Missile Launcher

Scout Squad - 4x Snipers, 1x Missile Launcher

Dreadnought - (assuming it's the AOBR one) Multi Melta, Power Fist w/ Stormbolter

You'll have 10 pts left to spend however you like. You could make the stormbolter a heavy flamer, find an assault cannon, buy some upgrades for the tactical squad, buy upgrades for the captain, whatever you like.


EDIT: You can combat squad the tactical squad and still get 3 scoring units if it is necessary at 500pts. Most people will just play Purge the Alien or simple objective missions at low points costs, but ymmv.

Remember not to shoot the boltgun if you want to charge.

Look closer. He has a holstered bolt pistol on his right hip. An item does not need to be in the hand to count.

Good suggestion Corennus, Cassius is great for the pts cost. Just see if your opponent will let you proxy till you can afford the model or scrounge some bits from friends and scratch build one
