Today was a live video presentation announcing info on the Wii U. I'm just going to copy-paste from commentary made as it was going on.
$300 for the standard edition, and $350 for the deluxe edition. Major difference between the two SKUs are color, size of internal memory (8GB vs. 32GB), stands for the controller and system, the inclusion of Nintendoland, plus the inclusion of what amounts to a years worth of Nintendo's online service.
Pretty much at $300 for the base unit, this is a nonstarter; or at least it is in my home.
Watching them demo games, and attempting promo Nintendoland.
Oh yeah, release date is November 18 in North America; November 20 in Europe.
Now demoing Lego City Undercover, one of only two games I have seen to date (the other being Pikmin 3) I have seen associated with the system. Looks good.
Now talking up Nintendo TVii. Nintendo's foray into digital entertainment.
The UI looks amazingly similar to the Xbox Metro dashboard. Has unified search function, also from Xbox. And even has some SmartGlass-esque features. The only standout feature to Nintendo TVii, is the TiVo functionality.
Okay, Bayonetta 2 just announced. feth, it's a WiiU exclusive. Well at least now I a serious reason to take WiiU seriously. Also Platinum Games has announced a second exclusive, The Wonderful 101.
Capcom bringing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, exclusively. Coming out next year.
Activision prepping to demo COD: BlOps 2
Looks like Activision is giving their full support to WiiU. Skylanders Giants, 007 Legends, Transformers Prime: The Game, Wipeout 3 (based on the game show) all coming within launch window - officially described as November 2012 to March 2013.
Looking more and more like Nintendo is setting up BlOps2 to be the killer app at launch for the system. Sad considering this is Nintendo.
They just wrapped up the press event by showing off a list of 50 games coming to the system within the launch window, followed by b-reel footage of some of those games. Most of the most notable games are already coming to game consoles you already own.
Hoping to find the video recap of the upcoming games.
