Always base bikes, imo. For one thing it keeps them consistent with the rest of your army, and for another thing if you don't mase them they'll look too short next to your infantry.

Did you know? The Reach belongs to the Forsworn.

So what do you guys base them on?
A Dread base or something smaller?

I normally use 40mm round bases.

I found a good trick for this as I play DA I used a lot of Raven Wing, and I still wanted a few attack bikes or at least the option to have some, but putting them in a case was awkward and it meant choosing between or buying more models.

Build the SM or Ravenwing bike as per normal, and build the sidecar, second marine and weapon seperate. then base the bike on the normal calvary or bike base (dependant on age.).

Then mount the attack bike part (sidecar etc) on a small square fantasy base. This way you can slide it on or off as and when you need it. (I used magnets to attach them, but even without it makes for a easy switch.)

The two bases line up well and I feel is a better size of base for the actual model as using other bases makes the model larger than it actually is I feel.

I'll upload some pics if you want to see them when I get home?

However if you've already stuck them together then the best bet is the 40mm round base as Rayvon mentioned.

I really like the idea of building the bikes normal and having a magnetized sidecar. I'm definitely going to give that a try... especially since I found a sidecar in my bits box that I didn't know I had. I think I'll see if I can use part of a 40mm base to mount the sidecars on. They should mesh well with my custom bike bases.

+1 for magnetized sidecars, I have done this, but still unbased as of yet. Am struggling to decide exactly how to go about it.

I'm going to work on sculpting/building a sidecar only base to match my custom resins in the morning. I'll post some pics of my progress.

I decided to start with a 40mm base, cut off a bit and use green stuff to mesh it up with a regular bike base... oh and magnetizing side cars... yes!
