Since LOTR is the only GW system I have yet to play I have decided to start a force as it seem quite cheap to get started in and I like the idea of the game mechanics.

Wrote up my starting 300 point and 500 point lists, will expand to 700 when I get fully into the swing of things.

300 points
warband 1
Hero - Amdur
12 Warriors; 8 x Shield, 4 x Pike and Shield (200pts)

warband 2
Hero - Captain; Halberd
6 Warriors; 6 x Bows (98pts)

to make the force up to 500points would add in another warband;
warband 3
Hero - War Priest
5 Kataphrakt; 5 x Blood Dragons, Banner, War Drum (180pts)

2 warriors with bow will be added to Warband 2 and Captain will also get a Bow Total is 499 points

Thoughts?

Less swordsmen, more pikes. And I would save on the points and just get more pikes/shield instead of the Kataphrakts - at defense 6, the enemy would have an incredibly tough time trying to crack open your phalanx, needing a 6 to wound with a bow!
