Hi fellow Dakkanaughts!

I have a tournament at the end of the month at a local club. I'm interested in trying a wraithwing - not my norm but it sounds like a lot of slashing goodness. So here's my initial swag at a list.

HQ: Imotekh the Stormlord
HQ: Destroyer Lord - SW/MSS

: Royal Court

Ok, so the stormlord hangs with the 7 warriors and the chronotek causing thunderbolts and lightening - very, very frightening. Lords run with the other two warrior units while sticking close to the ghost ark - if the resorb doesn't bring them all back maybe the GA will. The immortals go hide in cover/sit-on-an-objective/create-a-firebase (couldn't afford another lord for them). The destroyer lord runs with one of the wraith units providing all sorts of buffs (MSS, one of the best power weapons in the game, 2+ saves, and preferred enemy everything).

That's the plan anyway. I'm purposely avoiding flyers because, with a few exceptions, I'm the only one who uses them a lot (between 3 and 5 usually) so everyone's started bringing the quad defense gun thingee. Hopefully the kabillion shots I'll get from the warriors and immortals will be enough to take down the few that show up.

Ok, after thinking about this some more I need something to crack open transports. I added three destructeks which I'll add to the immortal unit. Granted I can only target one vehicle per turn and the storm lord will probably end up providing a cover save due to the distance but still - better than nothing. Not interested in seeing my wraiths popping transports just to get hammered by the guys inside...

Your misunderstanding how the royal court works in your second list, since you only have 1 HQ capable of taking a court only 1 cryptek/lord can join each unit, so you can only run one destruk tek with your immortals and the other 2 would be stuck as a unit by themselves since you have no other eligible units for them to join.

Its really the one downside to the D.Lord, not being allowed to take a court

Yeah, you know I know that....brain fart...the destructeks will be their own unit which is a terrible idea but I need something as the lightening is too unreliable. I agree it's a real downer not being able to get that second court.

Troubled By Non-Compliant Worlds




Having Harbingers of Destruction or Transmogrification would be a better idea (as they can shoot significantly longer). If you get the crypteks to close to the enemy, they aren't really durable. Keep them at a distance.

EDIT: Just noticed it was destruction teks, and not despair XD. Slight misunderstanding.

Hi

Zandrak giving tank hunter to warriors is sweet. also phased reinforcements, taking powers away from enamy troops is awesome too.
Wraiths without whips save the 90 points for something else. Like a barge.

I do mine a bit different, i dont really do wraithwing per say I usually only run 2 sets of 6 or 3 sets of 4.

Ever try zandrak, obyron, and overlord with 20 warrior blob. A vehicle is gone in one round of shooting with them. \

Wraiths are awesome there is no answer for them, exceot bad rolling on your part. Ill do a list up of some of what I have run.

Ok my version of the wraithwing.

done got like 39 points left over.

Depending on the mission and what my opponent has in reserves Ill either keep the Wraiths off the board or on. Phased reinforcements allows you to drop them in during your opponents turn even the night scythe.

The blob can port around due to obyron, Arks rebuild the giant blob if it gets shot up, got a rez orb, in there MSS, 2 warscythes, and of coarse 40 shots at 12 inches.

this list can fight all, vehicle, troop or a mix. Simple straight forward, and you can win with it. Gause shooting is simply the best.
