Hangin' with Gork & Mork

Saw Warrior the other night and, man, what a fantastic film. I remember when it came out the trailer painted it as just another underdog sports film but with a twist that the characters are brothers. Then I ended up seeing it after reading some good things about it, and the trailer did it no justice. It really spent a lot of time setting up the characters are believable people with their own motivations and agency. No one is really a bad guy and each bad action almost always has a reasonable, or even sympathetic reason behind it instead of just a way to push the plot forward. The history unfolds in bits and pieces over time without revealing to much or just laying it all out on the table. I don't want to give away to much because it is worth watching.

So, what films have you seen that were better than their advertising campaign lead you to believe?

Not lately...

The last time I got surprised was the first Matrix movie. Didn't see that one coming (saw it on opening weekend).

Battleship. I think the movie looked cheesy and stupid, but it was surprisingly decent. Not great, but definitely not as bad as I thought it would be.
