This is the list I came up with for the tournament at my LFGS this weekend. Idea is to throw threat down field turn one with 2 drop pods to pod armor to make way for anti infantry sternguard. while vulkan and the vindicators push up field. leaving the other marines and scouts to either hold objectives or go for killpoints, while the aegis line and stormtalon deal with flyers.

Looks like you are taking great advantage of Hestan's specials, just be really careful not to overextend your infantry. Being kind of light on Tac Marines will leave you screwed if you dont thin the enemy out before they capture a point. Looks good so far though! As I always do with tanks, once your dudes are out and holding a point, either circle the wagons with your 'Backs or have em go tank shock some big guys, mebbe you'll get a lucky squish. Why did you go with razorbacks over rhinos though?

Laziness is no excuse.

I'd like to replace the rhino with a drop pod, but i chose the razorback to put the flamer combat squad in to push forward towards objectives.

Aha. Give you a little more Oomph with your capture squad.

just thought I'd post the results for the list, My salamanders took first place overall with 34 victory points in three games
Beat sisters of battle 9-6 on big guns never tire with nightfight with vanguard deployment
beat blood angels 12-1 on scouring with nightfight and vanguard deployment again
beat grey knights with Imperial Guard allies 13-11 on purge the alien nightfight hammer and anvil deployment
MVP for the night would have to be my vindicators, taking out important models including dante and most of his sanguinary guard.
I'm very happy with how the list preformed, I made a few mistakes with them, but overall everything went great.

Nice job! So I have to ask you, how did you feel that scouts with sniper rifles faired? With the new character rules, I've been dying to try them out for the precision shots. What are your thoughts on them?

They really didn't do much, I took them for an extra unit to camp objectives. And the precision shots never really came into play

Awesome looks like you cut threw the competition like a melta gun threw plasteel . You say vindis were you mvps huh, how did your vehicles fair with hull points. Just wondering cause I haven't tried the new rules yet.

They did pretty well, they survived big guns never tire, despite a battlefield full of melta sisters. they also survived the second round and cut through some 2+ armor. my third opponent new how good they can be, and so he manticored them both in one turn because they got too close to each other.

I play with Vindicators myself and find that cover saves are so easy to get in this edition that they never really wipe hand fulls of models off a table. How did yours do so well?

Well the terrain was pretty limited on the boards we played, but I also targeted vehicles with them now due to how blast weapons now work

Good job man! Sorry the snipers didnt pull their weight so well, but nice work. Especially against BA... jeez 12 to 1. Was he running a Sanguinary Guard army or something?? Make sure you toss a medal or something on your Vindicators!

I will have to for the next tournament, my next step is to see what was effective and what wasn't to see how I can trim the list down to the point level for our next tournament in October. First thing to drop will be the Lucius drop pod for a regular one. The defense line is a must because the quad gun was a major player in all my games. Basically I have some hard calls to make.

Sometimes you cull the garbage, and sometime you must bench your star and get a rookie.

Love that you're using a Lucius pod!

Super-effective with the ironclad against troops. Double thumbs-up if you pulled the "pop-the-transport-then-assault-the-unit" move on turn 1!

Oddly enough the Lucius didnt do much for me. I think I may return to a regular one to save on points for my next list
