So I was playing my first 6th edition ruled game, and boy has things changed. I had to learn so much about stuff like challenging and flyers.

One thing I learned was: Never ever charge a bonesworded-Nid Prime with a unit of Nobz and Warboss. That prime just challenges each of them one by one (since they are all characters) and uses its loppers and high initiative to wittle them down, very painful process if I say so myself. All the prime has to do if I do not want to accept the challenge is pick the ardest nob so he becomes unable to fight, if I accept then that model pretty much dies. Very sad thing to befall my death star unit.

Let this be a warning to all who try to charge characters into a Mincer-model!

Not anymore.

As per the new FAQs, nobs (in a nob unit) are no longer characters, so only the warboss (and the painboy, if you have one) can be challenged.

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

When that situation arises again simply decline to challenge, have your warboss bow out and then paste the prime with your nobz.

Uhm, even if that was possible, why not just refuse the challenge and thus lose 1 attacking model while the rest of the unit rips him apart? You can only challenge once.

Your enemy can't go "CHALLENGE!" "I refuse." "ANOTHER CHALLENGE!"

You aren't playing this correctly. The way things happen are:

1. Your opponent challenges. They do not pick who they challenge, but there has to be a "character" of some kind to challenge.
2. You choose. You can either decline or accept.
-If you accept, you choose which "character" fights the challenge.
-If you decline, your opponent chooses one of your characters who then cannot attack.

So, if you have a unit of Nobs with a Warboss, you can simply decline. He will pick (probably the Warboss) as the character who cannot fight. Then, you beat the Prime down with the remaining Nobs. Problem solved.

As mentioned, the FAQ states that units of Nobs are no longer all characters as well.

To clarify - if you decline, the opponent can then choose one of your characters who could have accepted, and that character can no longer attack in the combat.

This is why characters who are not engaged and can't accept challenges, are never victim to the bad stuff that happens when you decline.

Also the prime can now instant kill all the nobs(warbosses not on bikers as well) and you do not get wound allocation.

That said we are talking about differences rather the overall picture where orks can still beat 'nids. Not sure why you run into cc in any case, orks have always been about shooting against 'nids.
