I'm finished painting the body for the most part (touch-ups n what not), but am at a lose as for what I should do with the base. Any ideas?

Oh C&C on the painting please

Dark grey rock and sand, sort of a moon effect, could work.

Are you going to try highlighting him? As it is, he looks a bit flat. I'd at least hit him with a wash or two to bring some definition out. I have a link to some good tutorials if you are interested.

As for the base, I agree that keeping it color neutral might help. There are a lot of colors going on here, and making the base neutral may help make it pop.

I'm personally a big fan of vibrant bases. I can't do it well myself but looking at your paint job you could do it.

Basically I would go for a chaos warp look, with some strong greens and a wet black and red mounded texture. So you kind of end up with these ridged black peaks that are tipped with red.

Then green kind of fire texture around them on the flat. Very warpstoney with the ridges pushing up out of them. But do it with the tip of the blade as the centre of the effect, and the ridges are rippling outwards from the point.

Probably not explaining it well but if it has even given a slight idea might have helped lol. It would go well with the blue cloak and bone, to offset those large blocks of colour.

get a 30mm base.

Give him a big rock to stand in, add some chaos icons to it...

Its easy to make rock from cork, and to paint it, just make the basecoat on the desired color, and drybrush with white...
