Hello!

Back when I knew what I was talking about with painting it was the old colour scheme. Old paints.. These new fangled paints are confusing me.

I have the colour scheme I want, green glowing eyes.. Tourqouise gems glowing .. The various paints I need for them I have.

The main armour is what I need help with.. Bone..

I am also considering buying the citadel spray gun as the gas canisters are fairly cheap from what I've seen online? I could be wrong.. Is it worth getting?

Back to the scheme anyway.. I want to build up from brown to bone .. All over the armour not just the dark eldar edge highlights.. But I think I want to wash the recess with red to make them look a bit more evil dark eldary. If someone could help me I would really appreciate it.

What paints do you think I'll need? Thanks!

The spray gun isn't all that hot. I bought it for basecoating and frankly dropping £8 on a can of propellant gets very expensive when you realize how much is wasted.
-When you spray
-When you clean it
-When you purge the distributor cap
Also note as the can gets colder the pressure drops and the spray gets clumpier.

For the amount of gas you'd end up using (and the cost of the spray gun itself) you could probably put that money towards a starter airbrush and compressor.

As for the bone you could look at the painting guide strips on the GW website:- http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/paintChart.jsp?catId=cat820002a&rootCatGameStyle=

Otherwise I can't really help as I still do bone using the old paints (Scorched Brown->Vomit Brown->Devlan Mud->Bleached Bone).

I'll second what Foxfyre said. The Citadel spraygun is really not worth it, either in build quality or in painting potential, TBH it's . Very good quality starter airbrushes can be found for about 60-70$. As for the air supply, you could easily blow through (pun intented) 1 can per session. Not only will the progressive drop in air pressure make it harder to get consistent results, but considering even a quiet starter compressor can be found for as low as 80-90$, you're better off saving your money by not using the air canisters and buying a kit right from the start.

Ebay or Craigslist always have kits for sale in case you are very budget minded.

The key features to look for are a dual-stage, gravity fed airbrush and a quiet non-membrane compressor with built-in water trap.

If you need any help picking out a decent kit, or just have general airbrushing questions, ask away.
