I've been putting together the models for my original chapter, and their paint scheme will be primarily silver with black trim. While this would make for a bold appearance, I would love some advice on how I could create depth on the figures. I don't want to go any lighter than Boltgun Metal for the armor, so would a wash work, or is would a lack of shading just go with the territory of a silver design?

Silver can be washed with any color to dramatically affect the finish.

If you want it to be neutral, do a thinned down Badab Black/Nuln Oil wash if you are using GW paints.

Paint them in Boltgun Metal, wash it with Nuln Oil/Badab Black, then drybrush over it with Boltgun Metal again. It came out like this on my Iron Warriors:

Personally I would like an extra drybrush highlight of Mithril Silver on top of that even, as it would bring out some more details.

That looks good, SRM. I think I'll be picking those washes up.

Try mixing boltgun and tinbitz 2:1, I really like the way it looks and you can highlight with straight boltgun and not have it be too bright.
