I know that where there are multiple models in in base contact you choose one as the "closest" and then allocate wounds to that model until it dies or you run out of wounds to allocate .

What do you do once that model dies and you still have wounds to allocate?

I thought the owning player can just pick another model I base contact and declare that the closest and follow the proces again.

Yesterday ina game though they were saying that after that first model dies you must select the model closest to that model to take the wounds.

I think they're confusing the new LOS rules with the general wound allocation rules.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks.

I think you are right.

The new LOS rules butts in where it doesn't belong.

For wound allocation you first take off models in B2B to your models, then the ones closest after that.

Can you cite to the rule that says that. I wasn't able to find it in the brb.

Per page 25, if multiple models are in base contact with the enemy when it comes time to allocate wounds at a given initiative step, the owning player chooses which one to treat as the closest.

You keep allocating wounds to him until he's dead or the wound pool is empty.

If there are still wounds left after he dies, you need to allocate to a second model. If again there are multiple models in base contact, the owner again chooses one to be considered the closest, and starts allocating wounds to that one.

If there are NO models in base contact when it comes time to allocate a wound to a new model, it's the next closest. If two are equidistant, again the owning player chooses.

First four paragraphs on the right hand side of page 25.

There is nothing that says the second model is the next closest to the first.

You added that.

No, not the next closest to the first. The next closest to the enemy.

He's not quoting, he's clarifying. Models that are in base contact are "tied for the privilege of dying first." Therefore once an "eligible candidate" is removed another "eligible candidate" in base contact must be allocated the wound. Once all "eligible candidates" are removed the second bullet point is in effect.

Remember base contact only counts for models that are striking at that initiative step.

The question was whether you're free to pick any other model in base contact after the first selected has died- regardless of that second model's proximity to the first.

I think you're saying the answer is "yes".

The owning player is allowed to, from those in b2b at that initiative step. Otherwise the wound pool is exhausted when you kill one model.

And to clarify, the 'closest' models are those in base contact with a model attacking at *that* init step.

So if a BLord is the only model attacking at I7, and is in base with only MarineA; then marine A dies first. It does not matter how many other marines may be in case contact with other Genestealer models. (since they are slow and go on I6)
