LOTR is mostly broken up into good and bad, so how do tournaments and the like work? Are you expected to have a good and bad army in order to balance it out? If all evil armies signed up, can you play evil vs evil? I have a definite interest in expanding my evil forces (I have mines of moria and some other random minis I use for DnD) but getting games seems problematic. Any response appreciated. Thanks

Of course you can, the rulebook takes care of this fairly easily.

It's fine to play Good vs. Good or Evil vs. Evil (Say a civil war in Rohan or the servants of Saruman and Sauron duking it out over some hobbits).

In these cases, when you do a roll off (1,2,3 evil and 4,5,6 good), then the person picks what number set they want instead of an auto-assign (1,2,3 or 4,5,6).

In the official GW tournaments people are required to have a Good and an Evil army.

Hope that helps,

This is not fully correct. This depends on the format as well as the location. For instance, Throne of Skulls in the US doesn't require an army of each. Most US Indy GT events also only run on a single army choice as well. There has been some recent thoughts though on a good/evil only matchup system, which has been gaining ground at more recent US GTs.

The only "hobby" GW is interested in is lining their pockets with your money.
