This is my list for my current DA (5th ed)
It's non-competitive, however it's obviously nice to win games

Any advice on how it could be improved for 6th edition and general tactics etc.?

Spare models are: 5 Termies, Chaplain (PA), Librarian (PA), 2 Company Masters (PW)
(The land speeder has not currently been bought - I have used my mates and will buy one if it makes it into the final list)

Interrogator Chaplain in TDA. 145

5 Company Veterans
PW, PP, PF+CS, Meltagun 170

Dreadnought w Multi-melta 125

5 Deathwing Terminators 250
AsCn, CF, 2x TH/SS

10 Tactical Marines
PP, PlsGn, PlsCnn 210

10 Tactical Marines
PW, Flamer, HvyB 195

3 Ravenwing Bikes (Attack Sq)
Plasma gun, Meltabombs 140

Landspeeder (Support Sq)
Multi-melta 65

5 Devastators
2x LsCn, 2xML 200

Thanks in advance,
BR

If you are spending the points for a landspeeder, spend 10 more and take missiles on it.

I don't really know what kind of advice you are looking for here.

Most of the units and options you have taken are very far from optimal, and the best advice that I could give would be to rewrite this list using almost none of what is currently in it.

This will be an interesting list in a friendly event, but in a competitive tourney, you will get wiped out pretty handily by most tournament lists.

Right, so I don't play competitively.
Which units are useless and which units are worth keeping in?

Is it worth me giving a rundown list of all the models I own?

Cheers

Just play with a vanilla codex for now. You'll soon get a competitive one(away from terminators)

Terminators are good, you can have a better set up.
Veterans are good, you really do need a better set up, at the moment they do no job well and will struggle foot slogging.

Dreads have their place, your set up isn't brilliant and is too short ranged.
Bikes do have a place.

Tactical squads are really lacklustre.
Dev. squads are pretty awful.

Essentially the only way I would want power armour is 5 man tac. squads in razorbacks.

I think the best advice is just wait for a new codex and buy ravenwing boxsets.

Basically what MFletch said. Any power-armored DA are pretty much crap.
Tac squads are way overpriced, Dev squads are worse.
Vets are not that great, by the time you kit them out decently, they cost about the same as terminators and lack the 2+ save or an invuln.
Assault squads can be useful, but are too pricey for what you get.

Basically, right now, if you want to be competitive, either use:

1. lots of terminators with some vindicators and/or typhoon speeders for support
or
2. bikes and speeders, and really know exactly what your plan is on where to move and how to efficiently set your targeting priorities

From a vanilla codex standpoint, your tacs are OK you need them after all. The termies are going to be doing all the grunt work in your list. The bikes are effective suppliment to your core.

From DA vs vanilla: The deathwing are slightly better even though you pay slightly more. Your ravenwing is way overpriced in comparison. (250 vs 195) You pay extra for your tac squads for no combat tactics and nothing of benefit to replace it.

From DA per all the rumors:

Deathwing are troops and don't require Belial.
Ravenwing - no rumors but hope the cost is not 25% overpriced.
Tac Squads - rumored bonus with plasma. Rumored stubborn. All good. No rumors on cost changes.

So going with your limitations and the recommendation to go Vanilla until the new DA cpdex comes out.

Chaplain in Termie armor. 130
5x Termies 235
5x Assault Termies 200

10 Tacticals - Lascannon and Plasma Bun 190
10 Tacticals - Lascanon and Flamer 180
10 Devastators - 2 PC and 2 ML 250
1085

1 Cmd Company 3x PG, 1x Melta 1 Apothecary 170
1 Epistolary Librarian 150

3 Bikes with PG 85
1490

Combat squad your devastators. Attach the librarian to the assault terminators. It is up to you but I would combat squad the tacticals. Yes it means they can't live in CC but it allows you to have the Lascannos and perhaps the plasma gun do stationary fire. Whille the sergents and flamer can support your real meat - the two termie squads. The librarian I would look at a power from the book possibly Telepathy. You need some firepower and a psychic shriek can do that for you.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
It can be good to see the comparitive using a DA list.

Interrogator Chaplain in Termie armor 145
Deathwing with AssCan and CF 250
Deathwing with TH/SS and LC 215

Tac: Plasma and Lascannon 200
Tac: Flamer and Lascannon 190

Dev: 2 PC and 2 ML 245

3 RW ith PC 135
Librarian 120
Cmd Squad 2x PG, Apothecary 145

1645. An interrogator chaplain is definitely superior to a vanilla chaplain but the librarian is that much worse. Your command squad also is losing a PG and Melta.

Thanks very much for the time you have spent doing this.
Just a few quick questions though:

Which squad should the Terminator Chaplain join (I'm thinking the shooty terminators?)

How should I combat squad the devastators? (All heavy in one squad, or ML in one and PC in the other?)

You say I should have 3 PG in the command squad, however I only have 2 PG models (one being used up in a tac squad). Would 3x PP suffice instead?

Thanks again,
BR

You want to put the chaplain with the assault terminators, as that is where he shines.

Combat squad the devs with all heavy weapons in one squad, and the sergeant in the other.

In my opinion, plasma pistols are not worth the points.

I guess I miscounted your numbers. Yes a PP is almost as good. It means less firepower but more HTH power. If you go PP, then go all the way if you can and add a few PW, PF, LC. Just watch out, doing this make the squad easy to overprice.
