Subject: "What is Warhammer 40k?" - A video I made for SOs, Parents and Friends
So, I made a video to answer the basic question "What is Warhammer 40k?" - It's aimed at friend, associates and significant others who want to know more, but aren't yet interested enough to start reading the rule book.
Thoughts are welcome. I'm planning on making more videos in the future, so any kind of criticism will be taken into account for my next video(s).

Edit: If this is like totally the wrong spot, let me know. I had a hard time finding a place where this post fit perfectly.

You should talk more about the other aspects like terrain building, collecting, the sub cuture and even do some name droppin' (mention DakkaDakka)!
I didn't want to start getting too specific.... I was trying to avoid overloading people with details. But your right, the whole aspect of terrain and the community - I sorta glossed over that more than I perhaps should have looking back.
Roll leadership.... Ahhh crap.

This is really good. Its basic enough to explain to someone who has no idea what table-top gaming is and a basic intro to WH40k. I specifically like that you mentioned that Warhammer models when built with care and painted well are works of art. Many people would look at a painting and say its a work of art, but when you look at that painting and a well painted Warhammer 40k model, the only difference is one is on canvas, the other is on plastic.

It was great but a little picture montage of all the factions would be nice.
Just a signle picture per. like 1 for IG and 1 for Space marines and so on. you wouldn't need to include all the different space marine chapters (space wolves, blood angels and whatever) though.

yeah I agree, having 8 marine chapters would definitely be confusing. Just put a pic up for space marines, and a pic up for each of the other more unique factions. You don't have to introduce them necessarily, but it helps show just how varied the game is. You already have some good variety of pics in the video, but there are no guardsmen, no sisters of battle, etc.
As for things I would offer. Make sure you edit out moments where you stutter, or mess up a word. Makes the video more professional. Also, maybe get a few pics up of a game in progress, so people can see what it looks like "in action". Right now, all we saw was some army outlines copypasted in different colors. Maybe use some of the GW '' Battlereport" pictures, they do a good job of showing off a game.

At the time (and still now) I'm a bit limited in what photos I can use. Legally I can't just grab any photo off the net I want. I asked for people to donate photos on reddit and this was a sample of what I got.

I like it.

Yes, all parents and teachers love phrases like "What the hell is 40k?"
Tip: if you are gonna make a video aimed at teachers and parents, don't say "What the hell" in it. You weren't allowed to say it in school, so why say it in your video?
