A quick question on Games workshop's return policy.
I own a fair odd amount of codices for armies I know I will never play. I bought these codices a fair while back, so most likely I have no receipt or any form of proof of the purchase. I also would have bought the majority of these a long while back.
Books are:
Dark Eldar Codex
Tyranid Codex
I know the Dark Eldar Codex is in pristine condition so should be ok, but I cant recall the condition of the tyranid codex. Would it only be based on the quality of the book, or have I left it too late?

Also, from my perspective, did you use them? I would be more comfortable selling them to the second hand market than returning something I had used and just didn't want anymore. Most retail will only give store credit for things that have no receipt and won't accept obviously damaged/used goods like that. Maybe someone with more specific GW experience can speak to it better.

Oh of course. From what I recall of my Tyranid codex, It isn't in the best condition, I probably wont be able to return it. Just looked at the Dark Eldar Codex. Looks as if I bought it this morning.
I don't really care if I don't get money back and get store credit/nothing. I'd probably spend it on more models anyway xD
Thanks mate.
There is also always eBay

Assuming its the current codex and doesnt look like its seen much use, I'm pretty sure a GW store would let you exchange it for something else. Likely wont get any money back but store credit is likely. Just tell them you got it as a gift from someone and have no need for it

How exactly is he being a "cheapo"?
OT: If your GW is anything like mine then they will take items back (sans receipt) in return for store credit no question (providing they are in pristine condition).

Sounds like you're already eBaying them, but I tried to return a book to a bookstore once and they wouldn't do a refund because it was possible to copy out what I wanted with a printer (ridiculous, I know, as that would take days), but the same answer may hold true here-it's a doable thing. Not saying you would, as I don't know you at all, but some stores may feel the same way about returned copyable materials-same as video games, movies and CDs. Just a heads up, because I have run into it. GW stores =/= book stores though, so YMMV in this case-just addressing it in case it does happen. Hopefully they'll give you a refund for a pristine book, and eBay the other (or offer a trade in the swap shop for semi equal value).

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
