in the vampire book, specifically, there is 6 spells and one not numbered, does the vampire automatically know that spell or is that one you can swap for if you so choose?

Yep so your level 4 rolls for spells and rolls a 2, 4, 4, and 6. You got doubles so you swap one of those 4s with the 5 spell, then you say the 4 spell sucks so I'll swap that with the signature spell. Or if 4 was good you could swap the 2 or 6 for the signature spell. And unlike most spells you can have multiple casters have the signature spell.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Does the new Vampire book not have 7 spells in its lore?
Or are we talking about the old book.

Yes it has 7 spells. I think you may have misread the initial post:
...is 6 spells and one not numbered...
