Hello people and other forms of intelligent existences!
I am new to these forums although I have read a few posts in the past and gathered useful information (thank you people) and tips about painting, collecting and (yes) even tactics.
I am grateful to you all for open handedly sharing info about our favourite hobby and decided to chime in and voice some of my (hopefully) useful advice as well.
To the gist of me as a gamer I have been playing Ad&d (as a Dungeon Master) since 1989 and would have probably stayed there if my older brother (who's a strategy nutter) hadn't organised an army of Dwarves (in the year of 1993) and waged war on the Elves of the near forest. Thus was born an immediate need to run large scale war with as simple rules as possible, as quickly as possible and in the most enjoyable way possible. So I borrowed some RISK figures and made some rules on the spot and voila! My first ever War game on a table.

A lot has happened since then and I was not a wargamer yet, but something blossomed. Years passed, I was still an RPG Storyteller and occasional player, a very active one. By the mid 90's White Wolf was in it's full glory and I was too caught up in running Mage, Wraith and Vampire sessions to do anything else but as I met more and more people I did come across players who were also keen on large scale battles. Some of them talked to me about Warhammer and Warhammer 40k.
I loved it (40k that is) and begun reading books around it but not doing anything more since I was indecisive as to what army I'd like to play and whether I'd be any good to painting (I wasn't but I got better over the years) until one of my players gave me a gift of Brother Tycho and two painted tactical Blood Angel squads. The year was 2001. I've been collecting Blood Angels ever since and I recently started collecting Imprerial Fists as well.

Well that's about it. Kind of you to have me

God does not play dice with the universe; he plays an ineffable game of his own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players, to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...

Is Kharn a Commissar that kills enemies or are Commissars Kharn wannabe's who don't have the balls to kill enemies?

Welcome to Dakka, enjoy your time spent here!

Seeing a squad of veterens swoop in in a Vendetta, secure the area, deliver that math assignment, and extract within 2 minutes would be freaking sweet.
