G'day all,

I have just finished my first batch of snow bases, and am moderately happy, but... The snow looks a little flat, not mounded like real snow. At the moment I am just thinning PGA and gluing the snow flock straight to that, but I've also read of people mixing the snow flock and pva together, then painting that mixture on.

Anyone have any experience of doing this?

Yep. I bought a bunch of winter base stuff from basecrafts. They have deep snow, which is a very fine powder which, when mixed with thinned pva, makes a paste that you can use as you describe.

I'd imagine any fine white powder will do the job, but not tried.

PVA glue and snow flock works fine, as does Water Effects and snow flock. However, Woodland Scenics Water Effects mixed with crushed glass (like this stuff offered from Secret Weapon Miniatures) will produce the most realistic looking snow you can probably find.

Cool, thanks guys, it sounds like the trick is to mix the flock and glue together and then paint on that. Thanks for the help!

Mix a paste of flock, glue and a touch of water as needed to give it more body.
