Aside from the allies I'm not sure 6th edition would have much direct effect on your list so if you were happy with it in 5th it shouldn't play too much different.

That said, I'm not sure if the allies are really doing much for you. It may work better to drop them in favor special weapons and chimeras for the vets and maybe a defense line to give your tanks some cover.

Yep that would work i suppose although the tac squad cant really do anything. So long as you are cool w that then sure. It is quite fluffy for him to have a detached escort.
