Subject: FNP Instant death with double toughness weapons.

I understand the FAQ ruling somewhat. Those weapons that have the instant death special rule (boneswords, Al'harem, force weapons when activated, etc) make FNP go bye bye.
I can see alot of players assuming double toughness applies as well...
However, is that assumption right? The weapons may be double toughness, which causes instant death to the model, but the weapon itself does not have instant death.
I don't have the BBB on hand, but I'm pretty sure it says something along the lines of:
Models hit with a weapon that is double their toughness suffer instant death;
NOT: Weapons that are double the toughness of the model have the instant death special rule.
Did I miss anything?
So a toughness 4 Marneus with an apothocary or a toughness 5 plague bearer, if hit with a devestator cannon, would still get their invuln, and their FNP as the devestator cannon does not have the instant death special rule. (The model suffers instant death, but ignores it because it's Eternal warrior and makes a FNP save)
This would be consistent with 5th edition as well. (Assuming the weapons wasn't AP 2 or 1, which the devestator cannon is, I couldn't think of a S10 weapon that wasn't AP 1 or 2)
Where as a bonesword would ignore armor, you would fail the invuln, but because the weapon has instant death, the model cannot make FNP, would suffer a wound, but would not die because of eternal warrior. (Assuming they have more then one wound.)

That is your problem right there. It is very simple: if the Strength of the attack is double the toughness, no FNP regardless of Eternal Warrior or not.

No, FNP can not be taken against wounds that cause ID.

If the weapon causes ID, any wounds from that weapon cause ID. Re-read P.38 it explains it.

Then what is the purpose of the faq? It says weapons, not wounds that cause instant death.

Because maybe some people were unclear on it.
The ID rule mentions attacks and not weapons.
maybe people though that attacks did not include weapons.

if a weapons/attacks strength is double your toughness, it causes instant death.
there are also some weapons/attacks that cause instant death automatically(or after some test)
if any of the above is true, it will deny FnP.
