So I am now swinging my way to Orks. The conversion possibilities are great and there is something that appeals about their random, crazy play also has some merits. My mate has orks as well so we were going for two warlords having "friendly" fights over territory and such. Plus means we can team up for bigger games.

He is thinking of getting Deathskulls whereas I was thinking of Bad Moon. But then a thought occured to me. I seem to remember in one version that each clan gave some sort of advantage/disadvantage. Is this still true? I mean Snakebites for example disdain tanks and such, prefering beasts and such. I know there are rules for squiggoths, but they tend to be in the Apocalypse books and expensive. The Ork Codex doesn't mention any beasties or such. So would you just go down the route of saying "this big beasty counts as a battlewagon" or the like.

I remember Goffs had some bonus in melee, though not sure what it was.

I guess though, the codexes (codexi?) are sstearing away from making them too complex with different rules for different sects. Chaos don't have rules for all the different legions, though there are for the main four.... each Craftworld is the same isn't it? There are separate codexes for Space Marine chapters..... hmmm so it wouldn't be that much of a push would it?

Are there any fan-based clan codexes?

What would you suggest to personalise the clans?

Clans are just fluff now.
The rules no longer support any special rules for clans.
Just pick the one you like the looks of best.

Wot he said. It doesn't matter if you mix clans, either, since a warboss will attract orks from all over if he starts up a good WAAAGH! The boyz care less about which clan is standing next to them than getting in a good scrap.

I read title,

I found a distinct lack of ork kinkyness. I R disappoint

Anyway, on topic.

The only remaining Clan rule is the Red Paint Job upgrade for ork vehicles. Aside from that its purely aestetics and what units are fluffy for what clan.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

And really, to be fair, any red paint at all is enough. Though solid red Ork vehicles do look rad.
