Hello everyone. I am new to Warhammer 40k. Been playing for about 4 months now and I am going to my first tournament next Saturday and wanted so feedback on my Tau 1,000 point List. Thanks in advance for your help and all advice will go towards a bigger cause.......... FOR THE GREATER OF GOOD.

TROOPS:
10 Fire Warriors(Pulse Rifles,Team Leader, Markerlight, Multi-tracker)
10 Fire Warriors(Pulse Rifles,Team Leader, Markerlight, Multi-tracker)
Devilfish(Gun Drones, Discharge Flectette, Multi-tracker, Disruption pod)
Devilfish(Gun Drones, Discharge Flectette, Multi-tracker, Disruption pod)

HEAVY SUPPORT:
Hammerhead(Railgun, Smart Missile, Multi-tracker, Target lock, blacksun, Disruption pod, seeker missile)
Broadside(Blacksun)

FAST ATTACK:
Tetra Scout (Targeting Array)

HQ:
Commander Shaso with XV-84 upgrade (Smart missile system) (Airbursting Projector, multi-tracker, blacksun, shield generator)

ELITES:
2 Crisis Suit (2 Burst Cannon, 2 Missile pod, 2 multi-tracker)

Basic idea was to pop Fire Warriors in DevilFish, disengage units, shoot, move DF in front of FW (blocks line of sight) repeat process and move entire unit when enemy gets to close.
Of course Broadside for taking down tank and transports. Hammerhead for same purpose and for troops.
Tetra for putting out lots of Markerlights.
HQ unit with Elites for putting out many hits/wounds on enemy. Since I have been playing it seems like the Missile pod/Burst cannon combo has helped more than Plasma. Seems like making enemy take more armor saves has been better than dealing 1 or 2 AP2 shots.

The List looks fine but if your intentions are to move and shoot your firewarriors, a heavy markerlight would be alittle counter productive i feel, may be better to have full squads of stock FW or if your worryed about night figthing get a bsf

I'd honestly drop those devilfish and put those points towards more fire warriors, if they are gunships your looking at another 240 points you could put towards troops. Troops are the name of the game in 6th and placing 40 firewarriors on the field at 1000 points is a lot of S5. 40shots at 36" or 80 shots at 21". That would be tough to deal with at that small of point level. I'd lose the markerlight on the fw's too, if they move it can't shoot. Unless you move the other 9 and keep coherency w/ the ui' so he doesn't move. Make sure to keep that tetra at range and don't forget to pre-measure everything. As far as your Shas'o goes the xv84 is cool and all but I'm pretty sure if he moves he can not shoot the smart missiles as I thought that was a heavy weapon. Could be wrong. You also could stand to lose the bsf of the broadside as your tetra can help you see a target at night with markerlight hits and add a targeting array so you hit on 3"s twin linked. Best of luck in your tournament..

I though all suits were relenetless no? so dont think sms is a problem

as for the fish. He is trying to run a sea turtle tactic by using the fish as moving cover durring shooting.

a giant moble los blocking wall with a 12 front armor and a 2+ cover save has its merrits

Thanks for the advice Desubot and Tauownz. All jet pack units have relentless so the heavy weapon would not be a problem. And the only reason I put in the DevilFish was for the reason Desubot stated earlier. Since the DF have Jink they get a 4+ cover save when moving Flat out and with the D pod they get an extra +1 to cover when units are firing over 12 inches away. And if the enemy gets close for combat I can hit them with the Discharge Flectette and wound them some more before they make their attacks. The problem I have been having with fielding just Fire Warriors has been trying to get them into some cover.

I am going to take out the Markerlights, I forgot those things are Heavy weapons and will mess up the feel of things. Will put the blacksun on the troops just in case.

Thanks again for ya'll help.

D Pod gives shrouded which is a 2+ i though at 12"

another option would be to take your HQ and attach it to a squad making sure to take a bsf and mabye some missle pods and scoot them up with the d fish. that way no night figthing for atleast one of the squads

I like that idea with the HQ unit, might have to try that out and see how wells it does.

I am also looking in the codex and it says that Disruption Pod allows the vehicle to be counted as an Obscured Target.

WOW I think you are right sir........... Cause the Rulebook states even a vehicle that is 25% Obscured behind a Building receives a 4+ cover save. So being Obscured and with the Jinx moving Flat out should give me a 2+.

Okay I will try to find it. The FAQ I saw online does not state it but the guys at the local GW also said the same about the Shroud. So I am probably looking at a old FAQ.

You want that shrouded. 3+ moving, 2+ flat out mmmmm tasty. I agree with what the top people said. Since you have the Tetra it can cover for the Marker Lights and if the Devil Fish isn't being used with Pathfinders for their ability to reroll DS than most of the time they are overpriced. Foot Fire Warriors tend to do good and make your enemy have to target priority pretty hard.

I recon a Cyclone Ion Blaster would be better than a SMS, Now you can roll up to nearly ANYTHING in the 40k universe and sort of make it dissapear.

Also you can't get a team leader upgrade on fire warriors, unless you just shorting the full name "Shas'Ui Team Leader"

I think you can drop the Target lock and Seeker missile on the hammerhead.

That XV88 looks mighty vunerable to me. If you can team leader him and give him a shield drone or 2.

Thanks for all the replies all!!!!

I am dropping one of the DevilFish and adding 10 more Fire Warriors. Forgot since this is a smaller game we will be playing on a 4x4 table and not a 6x4 that I am usually playing on. Also change my commander to a shas'el and made Fire Warriors just Fire Warriors and made room for an additional Broadside. Since the table is smaller don't want any transports coming on me to fast at all.

Wanted to add the Cyclic Ion Blaster but just ran out of points. Did drop the SMS system but still have the Airbursting Projector weapon on. I think between the two taking the Airbursting one would be better just in case people storm the field with Orks or Tyranids, have a better chance of getting rid of them along with the Hammerhead Railgun.

That AFP wil lalso help against termies forcing wounds on pretty much the entire unit, there are only so many saves they CAN pass
