Drone without a Controller

Ok I have looked at this and still wonder if there is a ruling on who a drone can target now that target locks are back. Example is a group of fire warriors has a character with a drone controller and a target lock. So the character can target a separate unit than the rest of his unit, but what about the drones that are attached to the unit? Do they share the target with the main unit or the character? Or can they choose their own target?

What is everyone's thoughts? If this is stated somewhere please point me to a page. Thanks.

They are a seperate model from the character as such they do not benefit from target lock and fire at the same target as the unit/main target.

That is the way I see it, but are there any pages to back that up in a rules argument?

From the FAQ (emphasis mine):

A model with a target lock can shoot at a different target to the rest of his unit.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
