The Trial’s of Blood and Fire By Slamander
Chapter one: Decent

“Sergeant Rayeth, Were ready to deploy”, a deep voice rumbled from the sergeants dark, almost blood red helmet. The sergeant gazed over at the familiar piece of armour, it’s scars showing visibly in the dim light of the overhead emergency lights and the dim readouts of the consoles that littered the ship.

“Yes, I am on my way Koir”, the sergeant said in the direction of the helmet with some hesitation. He grabbed his helmet in his two giant hands, and examined the inside, a large portion of it was covered in wire and mesh. He put it over his head and heard the familiar click. The tactical readout began to display, the various serfs and servitors started showing up whenever he looked around. He stood up and heard his armour rub and scratch against the metallic joints, he looked around, the small corridor that he was in. The walls in a silvery metal tone, various conduits and pipes jut out of the walls at dangerous angles, occasional sparks and droplets of water could be heard around the ship. This was in fact due to centuries of disrepair; the chapters on the fringes of space never received new armour, vehicles or weapons, simply nobody cared about them, but no matter the Blood Drakes shall still fight the enemies of the Imperium.

Sergeant Rayeth walked thru the narrow halls and corridors passing few serfs and servitors, at times he had to turn around to find a path suited to his larger size. However the corridors’ at times could be dangerous, even for a mighty Space Marine; Rayeth walked next to a large open power conduit, and instantly registered it as an energy weapon. Rayeth gazed at it and watched the tendrils of electricity leap to and fro on pieces of metal then simply moved to one side of the hall and squeezed by and put a notice on the ships directories, even thou the directories could get you killed on the ship, if anything its stop one of the servitors from getting killed. They were already short on crew.

Rayeth followed the directories to a point that read Junction 43, the large bulkhead was shut. He pressed the button to open the door, the door creaked to life then shot open. Suddenly open space was shown thru his tactical readout, he reached back to the command interface and shut the bulkhead. An alert flashed into his vision, Junction 43 under maintenance. He turned around then walked the other way, he worked his way thru various dangerous section of the ship until he came to the Thunder hawk bays. The massive door slid open revealing Techmarine Koir standing next to a brother marine with a large blue piece of medal and a servo wrench. Koir was welding on a blue arm section onto the dark red armour. A large dark red Thunder hawk dominated the room, along with two drop pods on one side of the room.

“What’s with the blue Koir?” Rayeth’s voice boomed in the large open room.

“New armour Rayeth don’t you know?” Koir humorlessly answered back. In the room there were eleven other marines, all new recruits except Rayeth and Koir. All of the armour had some sort of discoloration or patch, only Rayeth’s armour was completely red. Rayeth shrugged off his helmet, and held it with one hand.

“Brothers I am sergeant Rayeth, you are my new squad.”Rayeth put his helmet back on and walked to the weapons containers that bore the mark of the Imperial Aquila, he picked up a bolt pistol and strapped it on his waist. He then grabbed his power sword and felt it burst to life, the power radiating into his armour, He sheathed it in his belt. He picked up a bolter then slung it over his shoulder.

“Grab you weapons and prepare to launch” The marines put their helmets on and walked over to the chests, opening them and grabbing their weapons out. Various weapons were in the hands of these young, reckless marines. Rayeth looked at each of them and just nodded then walked aboard the massive Thunder hawk followed by the marines and Koir in the rear. The large door shut behind them and Koir climbed into the cockpit, he was the closest thing to a pilot that they had. He locked in the strike cruisers flight pattern around the planet then opened, the bay doors, the planet was instantly in view, a large sun-baked mining world. The Thunder hawk roared to life, and they flew towards the planet.

This is only a VERY ROUGH part of chapter 1, feel free to post you thoughts and opinions of this, Thanks!

Well it looks good, but i think no Astartes chapter that is loyal will go unsuplied simply because no one cares about said marines.
And I cant help but shake the feeling that the dialogue is somewhat less than suitable for a veteran Sergeant But except for that I like it.

Yah, I was thinking that would make this would be a more relaxed, story not all up in your face with all the 40K Jargon, but I understand what you mean, also the reason why i was thinking they would go unsupplied is because there really far away from most forge/hive worlds, mainely they just destroy the various chaos cults that pop up here and there, and because they haave no real Tactical uses they don't get much supplies, like the blue armour piece, was a new piece of armour.
