A lot of the AAR's I've seen on the internet over the past few weeks have involved late war tank vs tank battles. I'm guessing that Blood, Gut's and Glory and the tank aces will inspire a lot of players to play tank battles. I play late war mech infantry myself so just wondering what the ratio of infantry, tank and mechanised is over the early, mid and late war periods.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

I've got the models to make everything from infantry to mech to panzer and even 101st heavy panzer. I'm an infantry commander at heart though.

I could run LW tanks/infantry/Mech, maybe some Mid war tank/infantry but that is it.

Obviously early results on this poll, but it does seem that mechanised armies seem rather rare. Perhaps they are too much of a compromise between tanks and infantry?

My hunch would be the relatively high cost in $$$ of mech vs the other two.

LW Mechanised/Tanks - the lists were build to allow easy switching between Panzerkompanie / GePanz-Grenadiers/Pioneers.

Mech is not that expensive if You use 3rd party halftracks. With BF products it is almost like getting You a brand new 40K army for the present prices (~ 60-70 bucks for a platoon).

Compare apples with apples. Even if you get the whole thing from a 3rd party you're paying for an infantry force then half an armoured one just for transports. Just my theory on why mech isn't that popular, back in 2nd it was obvious, mech was stupidly overcosted for 90% of lists.
