Not really sure where to post this, but I was wondering how effective Necron Warrior spam is? (No flyers/vehicles, just warriors)

So you want to do pure necron warriors? That probably won't work and it will be boring to play. Pick at least one quirk to your army and then exploit it. To stay away from vehicles you could do wraiths, spyders and scarabs, lych guard or praetorians... Basically these are going to provide you with your close combat...

An example that could work

2 x Overlords w Res Orb and Warscythe 260

1 Overlord in each unit 1 Necron Lord in the remaining unit. Attach the Crypteks with the Solar Puls to the units with the overlord.
2 Units of 4 Crypteks with Eldritch Lance.

Strategy is to advance and drop the solar pulse on the enemy turn 1 and 2 to minimize your casualties. Meanwhile the spyders add scarabs to their units while the crypteks ruin the day of 2 vehicles every turn.

Or you could lose 1 overlord 1 crytek with solar pulse and 4 crypteks with lances. Gives you 325 points back... add a Lord with Res Orb 65 (260 left) Then add 5 Spyders... 250

That allows you to really pump up the scarabs. (5 scarabs = 14 scarabs after one turn!!!) It is an army that will eat tanks for breakfast and allows you to pillow units with replentishable scarabs. (Not good against S6+ attacks but very good against anything less than that.

The base idea- flood the field with warriors, then make em stupid hard to kill. Put a lord/zahndrekh in each squad, have the lord be at the front or at least with only 1 base in front of him, and have the ark hang out nearby. Each squad of warriors (if you want to look at probabilities) is at a 4+ armor (meh) but has a 4+ res on top of that, + each ark can restore a d3 of warriors each turn, and can put out more warrior-quality shots, and, to make things better, zahndrekh can dole out his buffs, from granting a squad stealth to buff their cover save, or giving a squad counter-attack (as the only anti-cc you have is the lords), or granting a squad tank hunters to ensure that something gets glanced to death. Just remember to keep zahndrekh's squad toward the back, because he sucks at melee.

Like the idea of Ghost Arks sticking with the warriors, that would really make the Warriors hard to kill. However, because of the point cost, I won't do Warrior spam in games less than 3000pts (I do want SOME other units than Warriors). But great ideas! Keep it up!

All well and told, this puts out a whopping 360 gauss shots a round, with a potential 720 rapid. Now that's more dakka!

Edit- I don't know the point values you play at, but from here, while under 40k rules you cant add more warriors, you can get a royal court unit, like 5 crypteks with a pulse for both overlords, use them to turn out the lights for your approach, and hide em in one of the arks, firing that s8 ap2 lance out the sides behind an av13 wall.

Personally, I think you have to stick a Phaeron in on of those squads, and bring either a WS Lord or one of the Crypteks with some CC help (Gaze/Stormtek/Transtek) along with it. You're going to want at least one unit that isn't afraid of walking across the field and getting in the opponents grill. (Also a good place to consider Szera, especially at 3K where your should have the HS slots to spare).

And, I really think blobs shine with a Stalker or two backing them up. The AV 13 works well alongside the GA's, and the twinlinking can really allow those 20 to 40 Flayer shots to light something up.

Loads of fun ideas! I do like the 6000pts idea from Dragonfodder, but I probably wontt afford that many models. Plus I want some other models than warriors. But running warriors paralleled with Ghost Arks should work! I get the point of Phaerons in a couple of large squads to, shouuld try that out.

Great ideas! Other thoughts?

IF you want to spam warriors, which can work I sometimes, you should think about a Triarch Stalker, twin linking most of your army on a target can be REALLY nasty. Also, in a pinch, is decent in melee against weaker targets.
