I discovered this delightlful little company through Dakka, BoLS, and the Ammobunker. I surfed their website several times, loving both the ease of the site and the items they offered. Shopping is a breeze and you can edit your purchase right from the cart (I cleared my entire cart more than a few times because I was going to overspend my gaming budget for the month if I did). Well, I finally went ahead and ordered enough parts to build three of the Highlander Guards.
My opinion of the Website: this is a great website design. It's easy on the eyes, easy to navigate and very user friendly. As easy as it is to add to your cart, maybe TOO user friendly. One thing that it has that I really like is it shows the value of your cart in BIG numbers right at the top left of the screen. If you register on the site, it will hold your cart for at least a week (the longest I've left a cart without touching it). They take all major credit cards and Paypal (always a good thing for me). When I completed my transaction, I got an email notification of the transaction, and another when my purchase was shipped. The only complaint I have about the website is that the rifle arms are sold individually and the pistol and sword arms are sold in lots of 10. I would rather that be reversed since the pistol and sword arms will likely only be used for NCOs and officers, although I could probably use them for the old Confrontation Brat and Scavvy gangers I got in a trade some years ago that had no arms.
Shipping: I'm in the USA, so the shipping was comparable to most other shippers, so I'm not going to complain. As with most of these companies, order enough stuff and shipping is free. It would be all too easy tor me to get to that level of purchase, truth be told. The shipping took about 10 days or so. Again, being in the USA, that's normal so no complaints.
I ordered the Highland guard three pack special, a pack of the Victorian torsos, and three sets of rifle arms.
The product: I received my purchase in the mail, shipped in a padded envelope. The items came in individual plastic bags, again normal for these companies. Now while I was complaining earlier about the website selling the rifle arms individually, they actually sent me one set of each of the rifle arms and a full set of the chem mask heads instead of just the three in the special. I always like getting extras! The quality is very good, very minimal flash or mold lines. Another nice extra that I didn't notice on the Website (it's there, I just didn't notice it at first) is that the torso sprue also includes some pouches. Now these are cast in lead and not pewter, so handle your clean up accordingly.. I use diamond files and the soft lead was filed away far quicker than hard pewter would be. The soft lead also made getting a snug fit of the arms on the torsos a breeze since I could bend the arms with my bare fingers and did not need to use my pliers at all. The models assembled quickly with a touch of superglue. I find that with some thoughtful test fitting and assembly, you will get a lot of dynamic motion in the figures. The finished figs are also a touch on the tall side, slightly taller but not as brawny as the GW Cadians.
These three will more than likely be added to my INQ28 lineup of characters, but I might expand them to a full on IG force in time. It would be a shame to not get some of the VM Rough Rider kits and some Cold Ones to build some Moor Guard Rough Riders.
