Are the floating brain thing of the current enslaver picture just a juvenile form? I would imagine them growing into different types of monster and weird looking creatures in the later stages similar to the metroids. Does any of the books have any infos on this? update i did a google check and it does look like they have different forms.
Could Umbras be corrupted by chaos? curious as it looks so ugly and scary that it even makes daemons look pretty compared to it.
Does anyone know any conflicts between the umbra/enslavers with the other factions in the fluff? not counting war in heaven.

Where'd you find such info?
And also, I imagined the Enslavers to be a bit like the Flood from the Halo franchise.

Seeing a squad of veterens swoop in in a Vendetta, secure the area, deliver that math assignment, and extract within 2 minutes would be freaking sweet.

Unfortunately, the most information I have ever seen on the Enslavers is in the Dark Heresy rulebook. Since Enslavers is a possible enemy a game master may decide to use against the players, it has a whole stat line and everything as well as a few paragraphs of information. The book is expensive, so if you need information I recommend going to Barnes and Noble and seeing if there is an already opened copy and just read it in there.
As far as I remember, the floating brain-thing is an adult Enslaver.
I haven't even heard of the Umbra, so can't help you there.

I do not believe that the umbra can be corrupted at all, being as they are the splinters of a shattered god.

Why must I always choose beween certain death and probable death. |

Technically, so are the Avatars of Khaine...and one of them was corrupted by a Greater Daemon of Slaanesh.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.
'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.' |

Correction, the iron body was corrupted. The actual Shard rests within the Shrine and didn't come into play.

That's merely what the Umbra myth makes them believe.
