Greetings All,

I am looking into quickly painting a vast amount of skaven models that I recently came into possession of. Most of them are Isle of Blood modes, and I am not looking for anything amazing, just enough paint and work to have them look good on a table. I am looking for the most simplistic ideas to painting a decent looking Skaven. At this point my thought was to purchase an Army Painter Leather Brown and spray all 200 models. Then go through and use a metal, something like boltgun metal or chainmail, for the blades of the weapons. From there I'm wondering if there is a black wash would be sufficient to bring out details in the models, or if everything is just going to blend together. All of these are mostly clanrats and slaves, a little more work will need to go into the weapon teams and such. I am just curious if anyone has any ideas for moving through such a vast quantity of models quickly (obviously quality will be sacrificed but I'd prefer to spend my time focusing on my Chaos Space Marines and their new models!)

For my Skaven I did the following;

Sprayed with grey gesso (any grey primer really)

Sprayed Calthan Brown (old gw colour, sorry I don't happen to know its new equivalent)

Drybrush Tallarn Flesh (another older GW name)

Paint cloth areas with whatever chosen base for cloth (mine was necron abyss)

Drybrush cloth areas with a lighter shade, in my case Shadow grey

Wood is painted scorched brown.

Metal basecoated black, and then painted tinbitz, or boltgun metal.

Teeth, claws and eyes picked out in bleached bone, Then eyes in Blood red.

Bases coated with sand, painted graveyard earth and drybrushed with bleached bone.

Then the entire unit was sprayed with a very wet coat of devlan mud. (Brushing would probaby be better looking - but this was way fast!)

A little static grass, and I'm done. Can do a unit of 40 clanrats in a night this way

Its not the bestest paintjob ever but those clanrats can be a bit soul destroying and I'm happy with this

'Ain't nothing crazy about me but my brain. Right brain? Riight! No not you right brain! Right left brain? Right!... Okay then lets do this!!
