I'm thinking of starting an IG army.
I haven't played much (any) 6th yet and I only played 10 or so games in 5th so I'm trying to get my head around what a competetive IG list looks like.

This is based on something that was doing pretty well in a local GT, I didn't have chance to talk to the player so I'm taking some guesses as to exactly what the list was made up of.

Can anyone suggest any tweaks or improvements?
I think I have the shooting pretty well covered, lots of anti-armour, I should have flyers covered with the vendettas and icarus and hopefully there is enough anti infantry to stop the inevitable assault when it arrives.

It doesn't look bad main thing I would do however is make some changes to your HQ CCS

Your being a little to protective of them, you have Chimera+Carapace armor+Bodyguards, and 6th automaticly gives you a look-out-sir rule. And after all of that your still guard so if a real CC unit gets them none of that is going to save them particularly as you have no weapons there.
To protect this unit you should sitting behind your main line and have the Chimera so i'd at least drop the bodyguards, possible the carapace armor as well.

Why no special weapons in your CCS, the entire unit is Vet's with BS4 and the guns are worth the points even if it's Sniper rifles. Maybe move one of the lascannon from your platoon here and give them something else

The strength of command squads and vets is special weapons (plasma or melta) not lasguns. You should always have the full compliment in any squad.

Other than that id say this is a bitty list that Will do ok as you learn the game but against decent armies you Will really struggle. But a good army to start off with.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

List updated to reflect the excellent point of giving the BS4 command squad some special weapons and a lascannon team.
Dropped the bodyguards, and a few other minor tweaks.

FlingitNow, you say it will do badly against decent armies. Anything I could do to to change that?

Something I didn't notice at first, I would move your chimeras to the Vet squads, the Lascannons can hide behind the Agis line or in ruins and be effective but your going to want your Vets with Plasma guns to be able to redeploy to counter threats as their range is much shorter.

This looks like a pretty good list. I dislike the voxes, but preference is whatever.

My only major problem is the Russes, again this is more personal, so I don't know why I used the word "major" but I've been getting great use out of the non-ordnance Russes. Executioner is my new best buddy.

I really dislike army builder :/ it makes it hard to read. Are you using two CCS units? If so is one with the vets and one staying back?

Who's in the vends?

The "meet the pyro" PCS could be fully kitted out with flamers if you dropped the voxes.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Updated again from more feedback. And to try and make it more readable.

The vets are in the vendettas, I think that should make them more flexible than giving them chimeras, but I could switch it around after some playtesting.

I think I could do more tweaking, probably drop the lascannon on the PCS or swap out the vox casters to switch up my special weapons a bit. But I guess it will come down to playtesting.

I'm not stuck to basic russes, I might be tempted to go with a demolisher and something else, but a turret swap is easy enough once I have the basic in place.
